I was living in NYC in 23/24 & my hair stylist was an immigrant from S America. She told me that the new illegals were bad because they knew how to game the system, not like hard-working immigrants like her family. Should’ve known then that Trump would win. Get in & slam the door shut behind you
I don’t want this to happen to them. Schadenfreude is frankly a luxury we cannot afford. We should actively recruit people who are feeling betrayed because they’ll be the best converts. Not doing so means these folks will likely learn nothing and change not at all. Change needs to be their ally.
Oh well...those voters need to learn that their choices have consequences and this is hers. Can't wait to hear all the magats about their medicaid soon🤷♀️
He told them over and over and over again, every single day, that he was going to do exactly this. So this is what she voted for, and I have nothing for her.
They truly do not know. In 2024, I spoke to multiple black and Hispanic guys with all sorts of criminal records, lots of ex-gang members, who earnestly supported Trump. (One asked me “is Trump a Republican or a Democrat?”) There are lots of Americans who do not pay any attention yet still vote.
People who don’t know stuff often think they know enough to choose, and resent being told otherwise. I tried to educate & persuade them; many probably didn’t vote. What’s worth remembering is the importance of messaging that everybody can understand. Trump shouldn’t be able to rely on such voters.
Sorry, NOT sorry.
Embracing ignorance and voting stupidly gets you exactly what you have - a broken home and little recourse.
You got what we TOLD YOU you’d get putting a felon back in office.
These stories are maddening. Usually it’s “I thought he would just deport violent criminals.” They promised to deport 15 million people, more highest estimates of the numbers of undocumented in the country. It was always clear where this was going. On you if you couldn’t see it.
Nah. Historically, the Cuban community in Florida has trended Republican. This is just another example of someone thinking she was a “good” immigrant who wouldn’t be affected, and the govt would just hurt the other ones.
Wrong on all counts, nobody has the right to tell anyone on Earth they can't go here there or anywhere, as the World belongs to the People, gifted to us by God.
On one hand it’s the media’s fault for not telling everyone every day they intend to deport 10s of millions of people which will include EVERY illegal, most legal immigrants, and some citizens. OTOH, it’s their fault for getting all their trump info from right wing grifters.
I feel bad for her kids. I feel bad about the human suffering. But she's still a fucking moron who brought it on herself. She wasn't betrayed. She was stupid.
This is the kind of person I just shake my head and shrug about. Like wtf did you actually think was going to happen? I have nothing for you. I'm saving my energy and effort for people who DIDN'T vote for suffering.
“He says he’ll keep the bad ones out. We’re not bad ones, so we’ll be okay. We just have to rely on the good faith of the most selfish, careless, callous, dishonest, and stupid man in the United States. What could go wrong?”
Cubans had temporary protection status at the time of the election. They've been privileged and expected their loyal Republican status to continue that.
My dog groomer sat at home on election day and now expresses worry over her autistic son's education. Her husband voted for Harris but her grandmother that heavily influences her is MAGA. She is a very sweet but simple person. I guess it was easier than facing granny.
Nope, not an ounce of empathy. My empathy is saved for trans youth that no longer have a suicide hotline to call. It’s saved for the woman who miscarries and bleeds out in her car because of barbaric anti-choice laws. My empathy is saved for autistic kids who may be put on a registry.
Many people don’t follow politics, I think it is very possible she did not know Trumps policy in the same way I don’t know who won the last superbowl. There was also a dustup before the election that someone bought a billboard comparing trump to Castro and Cuban republicans got super pissed off
Just a thought but maybe if you don't know a candidate's policies it's not a good idea to vote for them. Just how I presume that not following football you don't bet on the Super Bowl.
I have no sympathy whatsoever for these people any longer. Would be different if this was Trump's first term and we didn't know for sure what to expect.
Not knowing what Trump would do is her fault, 100%.
Preying on unsophisticated voters is his whole thing, though. He speaks directly to them, in their language. There’s plenty of blame to go around, but dems could have done a lot more of that.
I do wonder whether there are hidden fractures in the Florida electorate that could blow up everything, locally and nationally. Probably a pipe dream, but there is gunpowder in the water down there.
When it came to Trump's endless talk about deportations on the campaign trial, perhaps she thought that - like ending the Ukraine war on DAY ONE! - Trump was only joking...😐
I so get that, I do. I also get that sadly the only way some folks learn is to go through it. They were all informed, he informed them, we informed them. They knew who he was, he told them, we told them.
But they don't learn. There will always be a disconnect in their heads that they may be voting against their interests or were the root cause of their misfortune.

oh, never mind.
It's the "I Got Mine, Fuck You" attitude.
But what is the “betrayal”? I profoundly don’t get it.
Asshole.

No? Ah, well,
