Well done transphobes.
Last month Labour was saying the Supreme Court brought clarity to the situation. Surely that wasn’t a lie?
Fine, they can be "inhumane rights campaigners".
Or is it to stop members passing a motion calling on the leadership to stand up for civil rights and amend the Equality Act to clarify that trans women are women?
#TransRightsAreHumanRights
Because if they don't allow trans women, its discrimination on gender reassignment
But if they do, its discrimination on sex
This is the problem with the SC ruling
So if Labour said their women's conference was trans inclusive they couldn't be challenged. The problem isn't the law, it's Labour's politics
Yes they can choose to not discriminate, but they would be open to be sued by transphobes. And sued by trans people if they do discriminate.
Its a legal minefield either way
Abolishing the nation is the unfortunate but necessary course of action. Hope this doesn't inconvenience anyone.
What I find weird is that trans men never seem to be brought up in these contexts, why is that?
they're afraid of big bad evil men
They don’t seem to understand what the ruling actually said.
The Commissioners are a bunch of Tories (2010 onwards).
The organisation pre-amalgamation (2007) was a very different beast; or three to be exact..
The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) did ground-breaking work for Trans people.

Labour is in power!
They can pass laws to erase any potential legal challenge! They can amend the Equality Act!
Well at least these people have miserable interpersonal lives.
What the actual fuck?
it's disgusting.
That’s not the problem. The problem is too many people think that that means we automatically have no agency, which is bullshit and they can fuck off. I wrote the software that built their smartphones.
they are absurd ppl with ridiculously old fashioned views.
labour should have just said 'trans women are women, trans men are men, and we are not doing the culture wars' when they won the election.
It’s almost like trans rights and women’s rights are inextricably linked
We have been telling people this for years, we don't say it because it's a slogan, it is a statement. Your human rights are at risk by failing to recognise us.
But also, fuck Labour having been complicit in this whole turnabout.
Gender Reassignment is a Protected Characteristic.
Women are a Protected Characteristic.
Both can exist.
Jesus H Christ.
The world is totally bat💩.
Can someone please remind Keir that all EHRC Commissioners were put in by the Tories, and many staff there are outraged.
The SC judgement has made it so that if you allow trans women in, you can be sued by transphobes. But if you segregate trans women, you are discriminating via gender reassignment.
Either way, you are breaking the law.
Historically the EOC fought cases for women and trans women. Hence my incorrect assertion…
My reading, was that the judgement meant that women’s groups who chose not to include trans women, could no longer be taken to court for breaking the law.
The EHRC have made their own up… 🤬
"People and black people"
Come on
Theres a reason people otherwise use ""
The whole thing is a farce that serves no purpose other than making people miserable
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Compromising in this direction doesn't seem worth it for the level of exclusion.
