Companies! Not too long ago a rainbow sticker indicated your store was a safe place for LGBTQ people. Time to start doing the same specifically for trans people. A little trans flag sticker in your window. I’d make a point to shop there.

What you experienced makes me so sad and angry. Their behaviour would have been despicable in any setting. That it happened in a hospital is particularly foul.
I'm compiling a list of safe companies, I've already started asking them what their policy is; we have power by our spending - if we boycott the transphobes, it will hurt them; as most only care about money!
We currently have the Progress flag but will add the Trans flag to emphasise the point. We also have the south of Scotland's only LGBTQI+ Book Group (we think!) and are proud to offer Trans people a safe and welcoming bookshop. Pop in, if you're passing! :)
I found a lovely bookshop @thebookishtype.bsky.social in Leeds today: a treasure trove of LGBTQ+ (and associated) books in a v cute shop and trans flag stickers proudly displayed outside 🩵🏳️⚧️🩷

It's a dark and dirty punk bar, none of the staff are lgbtq. But they have it up right next to the door.
I love it there.

Ok, I just got laughed at, no physical danger. But it taught me not to trust the rainbow crap.
