Since announcing my diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer a few weeks ago I’ve become increasingly aware of how misunderstood the condition is.

So I want to debunk a few misconceptions:

Just over a year ago we had a party for my friend as it appeared her cancer was gone, now she has secondary breast cancer and only in her mid 30s, its bloody horrible and just not fair 😭

It's a common story, sadly. A friend had to fight with her doctors for scans, being told she was too young for secondary breast cancer. Early 30's with 3 young children and a known treatment to prolong her life refused.

She's living life to the full atm and is one of the bravest people I have ever met

Glad to hear this - I've no doubt she's making incredible memories for her family along the way! My friend too is the same with her view of life. She's lived way beyond the 'time' they gave her and is now on a trial. I admire how positive she remains.

Sadly Jess, women are being overlooked when it comes to health. I have a friend with secondary breast cancer and there is a distinct lack of funding into research or treatment. Enhertu has been hailed as a groundbreaking treatment, however NICE are still refusing its approval due to costs.

We lost a close friend to metastic breast cancer last year. She was denied Enhertu, which *could* have given her a bit more time with her young family. Can we please look again at funding this in England, as it is available in Scotland.
