This all seems perfectly normal...

I'm delighted to see the fly-tip I reported on Sunday on the Woodgrange Estate has been removed. Fly-tipping on the Estate needs to be reported to @estuary_ha and residents can do so at [email protected], or to me at [email protected]. Together we can #KeepKursaalTidy!

After tonight's meeting of Southend Council, I'm delighted to be continuing on in the cabinet for another year with a slightly renamed brief of Business, Culture, Music & Tourism. Here's to another year of adding to our successes and achievements, and building a city we can be proud of.

For anyone wanting to watch along from home, this meeting will be starting in approximately 10 minutes.

🚧HIGHWAY WORKS IN KURSAAL WARD THIS WEEK🚧 The following highway works are scheduled for this week either in #KursaalWard, or close enough to Kursaal ward to potentially affect residents.

We should have won that. Not good enough, really. I'm not sure bringing Trent on was the best decision. Him coming on seemed to disrupt the team's flow. Oh well. Arsenal did well to pull it back, to be fair. #LIVARS

Balls #LIVARS

Best team in the Champions League, this. The PSG bench said so #LIVARS

GET IN, GAKPO! #LIVARS

You absolutely love to see it!

I don't go in for any of this nonsense about the winner of the Europa League not deserving a place in the UCL, but lads, this really isn't helping the perception of the UEL final as El Crapico.

After residents of the Woodgrange Estate highlighted this fly-tip, I've reported it for removal. Fly-tipping on the Estate needs to be reported to Estuary Housing Association, and residents can do so at [email protected], or to me at [email protected]. Together we can #KeepKursaalTidy!

At this rate, Arsenal v Newcastle next week could be the decider for second place...

"Cuts don't create jobs, they just create more hardship" Dozens of Labour MPs say disability benefit cut plans are "impossible to support": read the letter in full and see all 42 signatories 🔽

It was an honour this evening to join the beacon lighting at Southend Cenotaph, commemorating the 80th anniversary of VE Day and remembering the sacrifices made by so many.

This afternoon Cllr Ferguson and I were invited to join residents at Nicholson House, in #KursaalWard at their VE Day event. It was wonderful to hear recollections from 89-year-old Dave about the original VE Day, and to celebrate with everyone, with a fantastic spread put on.

Madness. Both the far-right and far-left being anti-NATO (pro-Russia) is proof positive of the horseshoe theory.

My brave (possibly crazy) ward colleague Cllr Irene Ferguson is going to be running the Hackney Half Marathon this month, to raise money for HARP. The run takes place on 18 May, and if you could spare a pound or two for a good cause, I'm sure it would help spur her on!

Today is the 80th anniversary of VE Day, the day WW2 came to an end in Europe. Today we remember all the sacrifices made 80 years ago, which kept this country free. This evening at 21.00, Southend will light a beacon at the Cenotaph in commemoration. All are welcome to attend.

For anyone wanting to watch along from home, this meeting will be starting in approximately 10 minutes.
