I do the same, if only looking for a sense of camaraderie and comfort. "Ah, I see you too are a basic typescript bitch"
The day I see some assembly in a coffee shop is the day I stop going outside.
I've just realised that I don't think I've ever seen anyone code in a coffee shop before! I'm clearly going to the wrong coffee shops! I do see a lot of people with their heads in Excel though. There's a 0% chance I'll try and see what they're doing in Excel! 😂
If you’re coding near me in a coffee shop, there’s a 100% chance that I will try to do CPR on you till the ambula…
Oh, wait... Computer coding.
Never mind.
This would make a cool way to do team selection at a company. "You've been hired, now just wander around this break room, check out the kinds of code their working on, and choose what you'd like to help with."
Late 70’s friend studied Computer Science. Tutor posted on the notice board to set your final grade hack the uni computer and enter your grade. Different times
I’ve got a relatively nice setup but just need to get out now and then.
Perhaps it’s part of the fact that I’m living at my parents again and only have my bedroom to hang out in, but it’s a nice change of pace now and then for me.
I definitely had some weird looks from a guy who was coding at a brewery at the actual bar when I was peaking over his shoulder and trying to see what he was working on. I just looked away real quick when he got suspicious.
When I’m coding in public, I want nothing more than someone looking over my shoulder. Especially if it’s a non-coder. I always imagine them saying in their head “oh no a hacker” 🧑💻☕️
I remember vividely the gigachad I've met at a coffee shop in Warsaw which was running what looked like a pure bootloaded terminal with a green font on a black background. it was before my first tech job and i remember that the coolness factor was astronomical
There was someone coding in front of me on a flight to Puerto Rico last week and I could not resist trying to follow along. Python notebook, running algorithms and looking at data. Too far away to read the content

I'm trying to make this checkbox animation look natural kid, it's the most exciting thing I've done in weeks.
I am always so curious what people are coding
“Wait, I thought container queries were widely supported?” 👀
“Which rule of hooks did I break this time??” 👀
“Wow, Tailwind makes so much sense!” 👀
