If he's honest, they won't confirm.
If he lies, then he *might* be held accountable... at some point... maybe... someday. But he doesn't want to risk it.
Every time one of these nominees says this, it should be followed up with "Well, since you were nominated by someone who has been convicted in a court for breaking the law, that's not a good enough answer."
