NEW: The Department of Government Efficiency has built a “firewall” separating Elon Musk’s team from the 200 or so legacy United States Digital Service workers, sources tell WIRED.

USDS was the best government agency you never heard of. They were doing great work modernizing the ancient tech stacks of the bureaucracy. It’s heartbreaking that they’re office is being used to stage this autogolpe
FFS, quit writing "the Dept. of Government Efficiency." There is no such Government agency. There is only a lawless grifter and his band of young punks.
"DOGE" is an illegal entity Putin's guys Trump & Elon are using to ROB Americans of their information, money & resources & to cripple the United States - leaving us wide open for an attack.
Wake up America! Musk is raping you while you sleep!
It is amazing to see the outlets that are coming through with real hard news now that the mighty WaPo and NYT have fallen. A real opportunity for so many independent journalists and media.
There won't be oversight anywhere. Dems can oversight but it won't go anywhere. Not in this congress. All they can do now is be loud and go to the courts. Or . . .
After observing his actions this week, I have to wonder if Elon Con-Evil hacked into our nation’s voting system to manipulate the results of our presidential election. We all saw the difference in the candidates’ rally energy, we heard Donnie the Dump say people didn’t need to vote….🤔
I'm not sure why more government employees aren't uploading viruses, malware, ransomeware, spyware, worms,Trojans, etc, to download into any unauthorized person attempting to access files?Hack,& destroy the hackers?
They're committing what would have been federal crimes before January 20th at the best of Elon & doubling as a distraction from whatever treason Tritler's currently committing.
It has dawned on me that we are getting a first taste of what it might be like to deal with AI control of our systems. Musk and Trump lack empathy or shame. They function like robots.
I'm going to block pedantics who choose to miss the point. Don't bother.
It costs $5? $12? $1? Great, I've got limited funds to make a choice with and I'd rather donate that to an outlet or journalist that provides important information to everyone that needs it.
There's too much news and too many angles for one news outlet to cover it adequately. I don't know who can afford 20 subscriptions, but it's not me. Pay-walling this critical reporting is akin to price gouging, imo.
It's concerning for a lot of reasons, not least that it gives access to people with financial resources, who are more likely to vote center right and right.
Honestly, even as someone who's just a dev not specialized inthe field of cyber security, we have to move forward assuming they're already there. Physical access = burned 100% of the time, even if they didn't do it. In high value systems, simply having bad actors in the room unattended is defcon 0.
I know WIRED is slammed these days, being one of the few journalism outfits left, but man, put a journalist on the market movements in the crypto, market short, polymarket spaces and watch the trades happening the night after Musk&Bros gain access to valuable predictive private data, oof
This is shit reporting since you are giving credence to a group that isn't an official dept. Call it like it is and stop wasting our time. They say journalism is dead - you're proving it.

WHERE ARE THE ADULTS?!
The US DOGE Service is a "Temporary Organization".
The original USDS isn't/wasn't department or an agency, and had less power than either status.
Just a group of barely legals led by the world's most divorced man hiding their access to all of the United State's most sensitive computer systems.
"what DOGE is doing is a massive, terrifying problem, and one I talked through earlier in a thread on Bluesky." https://bsky.app/profile/danhon.com/post/3lhhimpz4522p

There has to be a way you can function without that. Ads. Charge for other things. Ask for donations... This kind of news needs to be accessible.

It's playing with people's fear and trying to make a profit.
Charge for other articles like opinion, educational, entertainment, business strategy, whatever. This? This is wrong.

So, so corrupt. This used to be called espionage.
