Bsky adoption will probably reverse if they start banning people for what they do off bsky. I can already feel how the discourse on bsky has been chilled recently and you can see it in the usage numbers too.

I'd say any such policy is incompatible with VC funding that want ROI.

When I create a new user on x I see lots and lots of right wing friendly content.

When I create a new user on bsky I see lots and lots of left wing friendly content.

On old twitter I used to see both. I miss the days where right and left wingers were angry at the same moderation team.

I'm pretty indifferent to the politics and I'm not high profile enough on https://x.com where blocking or muting people stopped working. I enjoy the ability to tinker. Only https://bsky.app and mastodon allow for modification and mastodon requires you to be both technically savvy and popular for results.

Not long ago people here were dismissive of the fractious fediverse with its various blocking wars etc.

Nope, its not the platform and its not the protocol either.

The reality is we an unsolved problem: how to create an online society that is at least not worse than the "real" one.
