Better let him do it, might be safer to have him in the car. A wild turkey bounced off my windshield once as I was driving down US 131, left a huge crack in the windshield but the turkey seemed unharmed.
As God is my witness, I thought turkeys COULD'NT fly.
Falling like sacks of wet cement! I will never part with my WKRP box set. I've actually seen wild turkeys in my backyard, fly up into trees and sleep. Maybe I should put mirrors up in tree?
Shiny door. Turkeys get aggressive especially in mating season and can scratch up reflections on cars thinking it's a rival male. Umbrellas and noise are helpful to scare them off.
The gobbler is in love with her own reflection. Had a songbird repeatedly attack his reflection in my side mirror (day after day), and a female cardinal fought her own reflection in our family room window every morning and evening for an entire summer.
Haha. Also happened to my daughter. Called me laughing crying because turkeys are bigger then you think and can think for themselves, and most of the time that doesn’t include you. Good luck.
Did you try to talk to him? In spring, they are looking for love and respond to almost anything. I was going up to our cabin years ago, and there were 9 tom turkeys by the cattle guard. I gobbled, they gobbled back. I giggled, they gobbled back. It was fun!
....... and they are so aggressive.
Maybe be proactive and go back inside and yell, 'Drill, baby drill'.
By the time you come back out to your car, he will be gone.
I was astonished to read (WaPo) a few years ago that wild turkeys continue to decline. Reading further, learned that Fish&Game keeps two sets of books; "wild turkeys" are game birds; they're declining. But "nuisance turkeys" are everywhere, and they're booming.
Right? They’re essentially the mean girls in bird high school. They don’t care about you and will not hesitate to show you where you belong in the hierarchy. (At the bottom, natch.)
My mom's friend had a giant pet female goose. That girl was mean and like a watchdog. You could not get out of the car until my mom's girlfriend called off the goose.
Hope you didn't give him a lift, you never can trust those guys. They hide their intentions so well. First thing you know they move in, build a nest and you'll never be free.
He's admiring himself in the reflection. Don't interrupt him until he's done. They can be really mean and chase you for really long distances. Believe me...
We stopped at a stop sign in Loveland, CO not too far fr downtown. & a whole troup of wild turkeys came wandering thru the intersection. I was like Whaaaat?
I mean we have had Raccoons, Rattlesnakes, Bears, Foxes, Elk, Bald Eagles, Pelicans, Mt sheep & Cougars higher up, but Turkeys?
Blimey!
Be careful some of those wild turkeys are mean. We have them here in the metroparks and some will actually chase us on horseback when we are trail riding !
Hi dear friend's 🌹👋. If 10 kind people donate just $10 each, I’ll have $100 enough to feed my family for 2–3 days. A small amount can make a big difference for us. Please, if you’re able, consider donating for me. Every dollar truly matters🙏🥹💔 link in bio 🙏🙏.
We have a flock of them that seem to reside a few blocks away in the local library parking lot. Occasionally, two or three will wander down our way and just stroll though our neighborhood like they're looking for a real estate investment.
This American Life "Murder Most Fowl" - you need to listen to this. Just know that I was driving the car when I was listening to this for the first time and I had to pull over because of laughing too hard.
I just saw a turkey exactly like this the other day down the street from where I live crossing the road. I figured it probably escaped from someone's yard.
Awww, it's always great to live somewhere that wild turkeys coexist. Also, your car is too shiny...He see his reflection on the door panel and thinks it's another male on his territory. I'm kinda surprised he didn't start pecking and scraping at it!

Unless they're organized and mount a counter attack.

Salem has a few flocks and they don’t care about anything.
Wrong kind of Door Dash for Wild Turkey. 😏

bad news: you had to go to the dentist
good news: you have summoned a familiar
My GF: Why do you hunt that wild turkey every Thanksgiving?
Me (loading shotgun): HE TASKS ME! HE TASKS ME AND I SHALL HAVE HIM!
