We do require dogs coming into Canada from US to have a rabies vaccine. Why not require proof of vaccines from US citizens and people from other countries?
I support in theory. However I had to be re vaxxed once as a teen already because they lost my records and nothing survived a hurricane so I don't have those either.
I can show every COVID and Flu vax over the last 5 years though.
I don't have my records and needed them for a job. If you ever need to prove you're vaccinated, they tested my blood to see if I'd had all my vaccines. I think it's called titers.
Most likely you could apply for asylum now. If you can show you voted Democrat and you felt your life was in peril, which is bound to come, that’s enough for filing for asylum.
votes are private; there’s no proof that i or anyone else voted one way or another. right now there’s still a policy in place that says the US is a safe haven country on equal footing with Canada for asylum seekers from a third country, so no provision yet exists for USians to go to Canada that way
If you register as a Republican or Democrat, I think that is public. If you want to vote in primaries, you may need to register your party affiliation.
Votes aren't really private. Your party affiliation is a matter of public record. If you don't believe me, look yourself up online in your county's voter registration records.
I don’t either, but I know that I contracted all the major illnesses -measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox-for which no vaccine existed when I was little. And I have a scar from the smallpox vaccine.
Oh! That’s right. That’s what the scar is from. The smallpox vaccine. I have that scar. I remember having the mumps for sure, measles Im pretty sure I did. I had chicken pox at 25.
I was just going to ask – I’ve had lots of vaccines for different countries I’ve travelled to (mostly in Asia), but because those countries had serious diseases NZ doesn’t have. Would have thought Canada and UK were mostly comparable!
Quite a reversal from 2004, when the US ran out of flu vaccines and you could take a ferry trip from Seattle to Victoria, get a flu shot, have tea at the Empress Hotel, and ferry back home.
It’s already in place. One of the requirements to get a visa and upon arrival is to be prepared to provide proof of certain types, they can be turned away , especially if they are coming from a country with outbreaks
Me neither, but yes. If I *were* trans, I'd be learning Spanish*. Spain seems to have the best outlook currently. And when Argentina gets rid of their 1970s footballer with a motosierra, they'll probably become quite accommodating again too.
Just moved to mexico this week myself. Im disabled so the amount of countries that let me in are mostly latin america. Get mango from ur library it works real well!
Or hear me out, mandatory vaccinations at the border. That way, the ones of us with brains will actually be able to get vaccinated and it will keep out all the undesirables. Win-win!
But what happens when our only option to get a vaccine is to go to another county to get it? This is my big concern. Please have a visa to come to get a vaccination!
Given the current outbreak situation here, and the low rates of vaccination in general, it'd be smart to keep Canada safe. I don't foresee a lot of Americans having the ability to travel in the near future.. but those refugee applications should require vaccination.
Yes, please, although our vaccine access is becoming more restricted so could they also provide vaccine access at point of entry? There's gonna be a whole market for vaccine seekers.
As an American, you should definitely do this. Right now.
No hyperbole, just advice from someone inside the shit show. Protect yourselves from the unfolding medical disaster that will surely follow if Americans buy into his uneducated rhetoric.
Please don't do that – I'm old the school that I was vaccinated in no longer exists. Literally, it burned down in a fire. But I have a passport with lots of visa stamps, which might maybe possibly show that I'm not mentally defective.
I believe this will happen. Our background vetting system HAS to be compromised at this point. How could any country reasonably trust the US is being responsible about ANYTHING anymore.
I’ve had 6 or 7 COVID shots but it’s a challenge to prove the Measles vaccine I got 60 years ago but I’m still alive and my parents weren’t evil child killers.
I asked mine the same.
“Adults who were vaccinated for measles between 1963 & 1968 should check their vaccination history to determine which vaccine they received. During that time, a version of the vaccine that used an inactivated form of the virus was available that was not as effective.”
Many countries do require vaccinations. There are many vaccines not common in the US that are recommended when traveling abroad to certain countries for safety. How do you think JFKJr got that brain worm?
I have been waiting for travel advisories for women of childbearing age who may or may become pregnant while traveling in USA... risk of death due to denial of life saving interventions.
Michigander heading to Toronto for a week in June. Have my passport and vaccination card. Will a copy of my ballot (I voted for her) and pictures of my Harris/Walz yard signs suffice?
Agreed, and I advocate for protecting ourselves against spying by tearing up the agreement allowing their customs/border officers to live in Canada and pursue anyone up to 100 miles from the border. Throw them and their guns out now.
Excellent proposal! Why risk contaminating your own country population because of the idiots running the USA health and vaccination programs. All they have to do is show legitimate proof! Yes I'm with you.
I don’t believe that we procure enough vaccines to be able to vaccinate tourists who come for that reason, tbh. There would have to be some sort of plan with sufficient compensation for Canada so that we weren’t left either with too many paid-for vaccines or not enough for our own population.
Given the Bird Flu and Measles outbreaks in Nazi America, I'm much more inclined to believe this is due to Big Pharma creating demand for their vaccines. Also for C19 BTW, especially since Americans cannot defend themselves again govt propaganda.
That would be awesome. I have been living for a chance to be asked for my vaccine record so I can whip out my phone and proudly display my entire digitized vaccine record from the local Walgreens while all those other chumps are fumbling for their wallet.
I noticed that people in Canada got very upset about losing what they felt like was a freedom. I think it might make maple magas get really loud again.
Agreed, but the last thing I want is to give them any fuel for their movement before a federal election. Telling people they need vaccines will probably do that.
Except we really didn’t. One expects the crazifaction factor (the percentage of people who were rocked too close to a wall as babies) to be about 30%. It was around 10% about vaccines.
Right-wingers around the world sold their followers on opposing vaccines because "freedom".
Before that I'd have expected Canadian right wingers to insist all immigrants be vaccinated.
I’ve gotten them all as they became available. I remember having a vaccination card that the doctor had to fill out and had to be presented before I could attend school. But that was like 60 years ago
That would keep out all the bad people. That’s how you know who’s good and bad in the United States. The people who are vaccinated are good. The people who aren’t vaccinated are the bad people.
I mean... a lot of us in the US are likely to need to come to Canada and pay for vaccines to be able to continue our boosters, the way things are going they simply won't be AVAILABLE here. 🤷♀️
Simply anecdotal but my observations tell me that the people that visit other countries tend to be the same ones that keep their immunizations up to date. The MAGA folks I know show complete contempt for immunization and foreign travel.
In 1970's, Australians travelling o/s were issued a vaccine passport. If you were unvaccinated & had been in a country where there was an outbreak of vaccine preventable disease, you were taken directly to quarantine on entry. We need to reintroduce this requirement now.
Unfortunately, we do have anti-vaxxers in Canada too. They are make up 17% of the population, but they are extremely vocal. They’re all voting for PP.
Some actually believe that vaccinations go against God‘s rules. They think that God ordains illness and survival.
That's really an excellent idea considering that our measles outbreak is still spreading. Plus, having an anti-vaxxer for Health Secretary is already a recipe for disaster. Would not surprise me if they tried to infect Canada too on purpose. That's how evil the Trump regime is.
Y’all really need to. I wouldn’t mind if I had to bring my inoculation record when I go to visit my friend. I’d just start bringing my passport with all that instead of my entranced id.
With the US HHS actively working to discredit and prevent vaccines, all countries should require vaccination proof for entry of US citizens as a matter of safety
Exactly. When Atwood wrote the story, she wasn’t wishing it on us at all. But she never used a single issue in her story that didn’t occur somewhere in the world.
My understanding it was based more on what was happening in Iran early 70’s. But it’s the usual script/progression when these nut jobs take over.
Sorry America, I hope you can beat this.
Lot of us going to be coming to *get* vaccinations, the way things are going.
Set up booths just over the border; put a tariff on them for Americans; set up an NGO to cover cost for those who can’t afford the tariff. Throw in a tiny maple syrup bottle. New tourism industry for you.
I believe I said something similar on Dr. Stea’s FB page. Well actually, I said we might have to start really swinging the ban hammer…and that we might need to build a wall. Or at least a really large fence.
More than willing to prove my vaccination status, but worried about the reception American tourists will receive.
Have already been several times, and have always felt extremely welcomed.
Can’t help but feel that might be past tense.
It should be international. In 2022 a US couple and their children started an outbreak of measles in Costa Rica. The government put them immediately in quarantine and they were complaining about being kidnapped. Also they got free healthcare for their sick children. Gringos ridiculous.
I'm thinking/hoping/fearing that if the US ditches vaccines my family can do some vaccination tourism to Canada. Maybe build in some exemption for getting a shot at the border.
I was over the moon when we went to my little one's 6M appointment and found out we could get an early (extra) MMR shot.
I don't think they can do it before 6M and your baby will still need the 2 regularly scheduled ones later on, but it's given me some peace of mind 6M earlier than I expected.
Agreed. Add screening for infectious disease to that. And ensure all of this includes short trips as well. Measles and other illness doesn't care about the border or that you're just going over it for a few hours.
We need the yellow cards back - good for many reasons. Signed by dr or pharmacist. Record of your vaccines so you don’t miss boosters etc. And for travelling internationally. I’d be happy with a digital version as long as there was a signature and all vaccines going through a central portal.
This is a good thing. But those yellow cards..all your vaccines from childhood onwards in one place. All our old yellow cards are in our house. So when the daughter calls for her vaccine history preparatory to getting updated vaccines for travel - it’s all there in one place. Simple, comprehensive.
I was just wondering about vaccine tourism, if they become unavailable here. I don’t think I would be accepted as an ex pat or refugee, but the vaccines would protect my life.
Not our responsibility to sort out your mess, and it is not our responsibility to risk our lives for your citizens. Canada has done too much for the US. Stop expecting more.
I was wondering because Canada has helped Americans against unreasonable acts before. And, there were documented cases in the news of some Canadians coming down in early 2020 as vaccine tourists at the beginning of COVID when vaccines were hard to get for any of us. I don’t *expect* anything.
I don't mean to sound harsh but the US has worn us thin. Iran hostages, Afghanistan (you bombed our troops), 911--only 3 examples. Add to that your businesses come here, take advantage of our tax-relief and grants-paid for by citizens, then..more below.. 1/?
...tear up contracts and leave. Workers without jobs and taxpayers to clean up the mess.
Some of your tourists come here and demand we take your currency, demand we provide everything exactly the same as in the US.
Yes, we *Bought* covid vaccines. We relied too heavily....
3/? ...on the US for vaccines.
Over the past ten years we have been your support buddies on social media and IRL.
You need to save your own country. WE have our own problems to deal with now.
And yes...simply asking is too much like *expecting*
Our PM said it best. This relationship is over.
I never *asked*, I never *expected*. I *wondered* as in the dictionary definition, thinking with curiosity… the same way I wonder why people fall for conmen and grifters. You are angry with the US. So am I. I served. I lost friends in Vietnam. I lost family to C19. I loathe the GOP. I still fight.
Comments
And immigrants to the US have long had to have lots of vaccines, though that might change under the New Management
I can show every COVID and Flu vax over the last 5 years though.
Weirdly, my MMR confirmed yes, no, yes.
Idk why the mumps didn't take🤷🏻♀️
next, they will stop us from leaving. They aren't good people.
I had to get more vaccines, including the experimental anthrax jab, when I almost deployed to Somalia (long story).
My kids had to get additional vaccines /
Every time, we were up to date beforehand.
Suggesting/requiring vaccines for a destination is good public health. Requiring vaccines for visitors is good public health.
Good public health should not be controversial.
Started the attack….close border to non essential or at the very least proof of vaccination
*I'm learning Spanish anyway.
And fingerprints
Perhaps strip searches,perhaps

It appears that some influencers already have. 😑
“Adults who were vaccinated for measles between 1963 & 1968 should check their vaccination history to determine which vaccine they received. During that time, a version of the vaccine that used an inactivated form of the virus was available that was not as effective.”
MMR for college.
You must be this smart to visit the great white north.
(following you now...)
Choose ur poison...
Australia needs to do same.
I’m hoping we’ve finally got enough exposure to get it under way
I’d like to seek asylum in Canada, please!
I know all the words to your national anthem
Before that I'd have expected Canadian right wingers to insist all immigrants be vaccinated.
Some actually believe that vaccinations go against God‘s rules. They think that God ordains illness and survival.
It’s time, sadly.
Sorry America, I hope you can beat this.
Those Americans who wait tables, work as burger flippers and baristas are not needed. Plenty of Canadian teenagers to do those jobs here in Canada.
That is - if McDonalds & Starbucks even survive. Because those are American companies. Boycott.
Set up booths just over the border; put a tariff on them for Americans; set up an NGO to cover cost for those who can’t afford the tariff. Throw in a tiny maple syrup bottle. New tourism industry for you.

I have all mine already, but, you know, maybe there’s a dose response to be found here.
You said it.

I'm ready!!
Read what you wrote:

That is why we are tired, exhausted and out of patience
