Absolutely agree. Wright is my favorite director—Atonement, Hanna, and Darkest hour have me on the edge of my seat no matter how many times I’ve seen them and Anna Karenina is delightful eye candy.

I love this film. I think it got forgotten because it's too short and impressionistic to be a proper 'epic'.

A larger problem is that some of it looks like a perfume ad, which is fine for Anna and Vronsky, but jarring when it looks like it's advertising Levin pour homme.

Setting it mostly in that theater was brilliant and made it one of the more fascinating surprises in the relatively predictable period piece genre. It's different and really should be celebrated more.

As a man who loves the book so much (read it three times) I was so nervous for how this film would turn out. The aesthetic framework, Gleeson’s Levin, Law’s Karenin, Vikander’s Kitty. Really everyone in the cast is killing it. And the score! Such a remarkable film.
