If you stuck this on the front of a movie today I would be eight Reels deep in basketball highlights and fishing fails by the time Crocodile Dundee even started.
We all used to have so much more /time/.

Those intros got you excited about the movie. Maybe we would’ve needed distractions if we had them available back then… Who knows
In reality, we still have as much time
now as we did then.
The difference is that now, more of our
time’s devoted earning money to make payments to rentier entities.
This time is taken away from
ourselves & our families to support these rising overhead costs.
We all used to have so much more attention span.
Highly recommended

In the 1980s, rural communities measured time by seasons and urban communities measured time by pay periods and hours. 1/2
My 6th grade buddy and I would grab the Atari 2600 controllers and pretend to fly through it.
A different time, yes.
It wasn't really that we had more time, we simply prioritized it differently.
You can get the time back, you just gotta give the shortform content a break!
Your family looks at you as if you’ve asked them to stop the very rotation of the Earth itself.

Today, movies start whenever and wherever at the press of a button. No prep time needed.
People used to write letters and wait WEEKS to get a reply.
Just having to call people when you knew they were home instead of texting their cellphone 24/7 changed
I remember being a kid/teen in the 90’s and early 2000s and being enamored with every type of screen and now it’s like all the fingers on the monkey’s paw have curled into a fist
We were going to watch a movie. Immerse ourselves in the experience. Get the popcorn and drinks, set the mood and ambience. The reel allowed for the last-minute bathroom break and snack prep, we were doing *nothing* else until the movie was done.
We have the time, we've forgotten how.
2cents
DVR and time shifting broke it, and steaming buried it.
That said, if you can't go a minute without looking at Reels I think you might have a problem.
Might never go to the theatre again if that's considered normal
And, you couldn’t skip it. I bet a lot of folks would have.
We have all become the kids on the Willy Wonka tour.
