multiple people! And the cops fucked it up badly enough that it's arguable that their fuck up is what caused people to die. I think THAT primarily is why it's mostly faded from national headlines - it's an embarrassment to cops and national media doesn't want to follow that story right now.

A cop *saw him on the street* in New Hope, tried to talk to him, and when he didn't respond, she just...drove off. He then went to kill the Hortmans.

Cops at the Hortmans' also delayed just enough that Boetler was able to go in and kill them. Later that day, he was at his apartment in North Minneapolis and no shelter in place order was given (it's a primarily Black neighborhood). He was only caught because a neighbor saw him on a trail cam.

Nancy Pelosi's husband was bludgeoned in a bungled assassination attempt, and it mostly ended up as really shitty jokes. Or, the scheme to kidnap and maybe kill Gov. Witmer. Etc.

Democrats, women, and esp Democratic women being subjected extreme violence is just shunted into the bin. It's sick.

It’s also because Republicans are good at feigning a lot of moral outrage after Republicans are threatened. Trump’s assassination attempt was converted into campaign merch overnight.

Democrats are relatively mute in a good faith (yet backwards) effort to ensure cooler heads prevail.

I had to roll my eyes last night watching the bit on Kare11 about Republicans telling protestors that they were being disrespectful to them, and it wasn’t appropriate timing to be angry that one of their politicians had been murdered, somehow waiting to be mad would be more “decent.”
Just madness.
