I’m sorry to put it this way, but high school and college term papers, 99 percent of the time, have little value as completed work. They will never be remembered or read again. Generating them, in and of itself, is worth essentially nothing, particularly when they recapitulate existing work.

But short-term it's the degree (certificate) and the university's reputation which gets you hired.

Large numbers of people go to college just for the degree, they don't care how they get it. This has always been, it didn't start with ai. It sounds naive to think everyone who goes cares about learning anything
I'd the only real difference is mow the poors are doing it on a larger scale when it was previously mostly the wealthy
I taught high school for 7 yrs inside the Beltway. My school was a grades machine. Cheating, rampant. Parents and most kids didn't give a damn about learning--and they take that attitude to college. Grades-->degree-->job. Knowing anything? Bleh.
Much like repetition of math problems they clearly have been done before but it is important to understand the process of problem solving.
