The national title game averaged 22.1 million viewers.
Highest CFB game of the season but third-lowest title game in the CFP era (ahead of 2020 and Georgia-TCU)
That's lower than I expected. Two giant, national fanbases. But also, holiday/inauguration? https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6081817/2025/01/22/college-football-playoff-championship-viewership-espn

The NFL isn't moving its calendar for CFB. It is what it is.
I do think the season stretching longer weighs on general fans.
I have a feeling at this rate a team will decline an invite/sit starters in a CCG in the not too distant future anyway
That's why Super Bowl, Oscars and other big TV events are on Sundays. That's why the NBA Finals are on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
Look at the difference between No. 1 and No. 2. Most of the Super Bowl viewership don't watch the NFL.
But, NFL now has a WC game that second Monday night in January. So, something needs to give...but probably wont!
If NIU can beat ND, UM can beat OSU, and OSU can crush UO in the revenge game, anything is possible.
I imagine a lot of people turned it off once OSU scored in the second half.
