I think this is where most of us stand. I appreciate there aren’t many possible destination after LFC but Real Madrid is such a horrible club with a horrible culture.

And on how "it's worked out", it's really the difficult situation caused by Klopp, the absence of an SD, etc. Trent informed #lfc he intended to leave in March. Given the absence of leaks from both sides and that negotiations continued until, then it's about as good as it could have been.

One note though - I'd rather Tyler Alexander-Arnold be named as his agent in the press rather than using the generic "camp". PLG has two directors, and while the likes of Robertson, Henderson, and Bowen are also repped, there's only one truly elite player on their books - Trent.

Perhaps I'm being overly generous, but I don't think players are required to sign a deal simply because one is offered - especially if it's initial/doesn't meet terms they can accept. The alternative is that he's been stringing the club along (and today's reports are stage managed for both parties).

There have been reports linking him to Madrid as a free agent for about 2 years. Which is also when his best friend decided to go there. So I don't think it's overly conspiratorial to think that was the moment when the decision was made.

It is sort of different to a normal employee/employer job move. Players for clubs are such valuable assets, so he’s devalued the club for his own pockets which I think is the worst bit. We’ve lost an asset worth about £100m and we’ll need to spend even more to replace him.

I don't doubt there was communication between player/agent and club which led to a bid, but I think Trent (and ultimately Real) would also have known that there was only a very remote - if no - chance of him going in January.
