My local librarian was my first trusted human.
I learned to read at a young age.
The library was my magical special place. I was invincible there.

What are you reading right now?
The good part is: books are insanely cheap. Make good money buy a big house, and fill it with books.
I am so grateful to my local librarian and library. It opened worlds and ideas I would never have discovered on my own.
I am a voracious reader to this day and I am married to a reader.
Books are everything.
Yes, likewise, delighted to connect with fellow readers.
Oh well, I love the library now.
Turned loose to roam the adult section in 4th grade.
Librarians - true protectors of democracy.
I still remember being under 5 and borrowing a vinal of Carole King "I'm really Rosie"
At 45 I still sing The Awful Truth song around Halloween 😂
My mom, sister and I spent so much time there (I loved it, but realized as I grew older this was partly because we needed a "safe space" to go to).
Such a special place in my heart for that library.

Stood on the sidewalk in front of the [closed] building that was my refuge, tears rolling down my face...
The library will always be our fortress. I am thankful for this.

And I remember realizing that my parents had no awareness of my new world.
Reading empowers kids.
It used to be my gateway
I love that.
10 books, report and discuss at a round table in that dusty basement. 💕
I did for 5 years straight as a kid and was so proud of each certificate.
We were already reading and then they rewarded us with a free personal pan pizza? That was the vibe for me and my friends.
I do think that is an interesting point - the latchkey kid situation of our generation correlating with reading.
Both loves of my life (first boyfriend and husband) are very close to my age. We all seek solace and find enjoyment and pleasure in reading.
Worth it.
It was a blessing in a way. I read whatever I wanted, discovering for myself the magic on the shelves, section by section.
Me: I read it in a book I found at the library.
