Prime Minister Keir Starmer has “utterly rejected” the idea that the UK must choose between the United States and Europe when Donald Trump comes to power, arguing that it is in the national interest to work with both

What we Need is a PM owned by Britain.
Starmer alluding to the nonsense that you can't is ludicrous and makes no sense at all.
Just say it once and for all... We don't want to upset a certain demographic of the UK. 🤷♂️
Having set up these ludicrous red lines to get elected he's now unable to figure out a way to back out of them.
So he just keeps doubling down, hoping for the best even though he knows what he's saying is nonsense.
Because it seems to me he's just running scared from the RW press and doesn't actually have a clue how to get out of the corner he's put himself in.
That really doesn't sound like progress to me.
He needs to stop saying things like that and start explaining why being in the EU is a better option.

But... Enter Trump. A complete idiot that doesn't like us and doesn't care. If only half the things he said happens, world is screwed.
So Starmer can think all he wants, his hand may be forced to pick.
Why do we need to create ANOTHER divide when there doesn’t have to be.
It’s good to have level headed adults in charge again.
America seems a pretty dangerous place right now, even more so politically, so keeping Trump and the likes happy right now seems a good move to me.
This kind of “tweet” may be more appropriate on a different app. Leave the adults to discuss this one yeah.
👋🏻
Brexit didn't deliver a preferential trade deal last time Trump was in power. He actually imposed tariffs on our goods in 2018.
Brexit left us hamstrung in terms of trades so surely more options will help…
Eurosceptics claimed that the deal would force the NHS to be privatised. The agreement came to nothing after close scrutiny by EU members as it was heavily biased in favour of American corporations...
MAGA - Make AMERICA great again.
He views every other nation as competitors, not partners.
Why so black and white when there's a middle shades of grey in the middle.
I find the whole phrasing daft.
Why should they give a fuck what U.K. thinks?
It’s really not the time to pick sides
I don't foresee any circumstance where Starmer would blindly follow Trump on anything.
But as you say, it is in our interest to work (and trade) with both entities.
Why would I then think it's in my interest to deal with a felony count of 34 never mind adjudicated rape and links to paedophilia?
I don't see a choice.

Trump doesn't like sharing - so even if he'd have shafted the UK anyway, he'll be especially inclined to that now.
We are going to hell in a handcart.
Starmer demonstrating everyday how unfit he is to lead.
Trump fantasies over meeting them again at Windsor Castle. Meeting our late Queen was a high point of his last term.
I wouldn’t underestimate this card that might have to be played by our Government (unfortunately)!
But he is king of the kingdom. Trump is… in charge of the cuntry
His influence could prevent the destruction of natural resources. It would be greatly appreciated
TBH, if he uses the next four years, to keep Donnie occupied by playing ‘Pretend to be King of America, with the King of England’
we might just avert disaster
Then (we hope) politically slow pedals an US buy in, while working hard with the EU, and with what's going on there, that's a challenge that keeps growing
