I check in here a few times a week, and genuinely want to be on here more, but 90% of my mentions are usually complaints that I haven’t passed someone’s purity test. It’s wild.

I think this is true! Like as a sports fan I think the owner should spend time wallowing in bad hires, draft picks etc and should get dragged over it so they make better decisions when it actually matters. This is the best time to have these fights bc the electoral valence is low.

contextualized by the fact that the Democrats had the third-best showing for an incumbent party in 2023 and 2024, i don't think that spending our time on a question which answers itself ("why did the democratic party not oust its nominee in a procedurally bizarre move at the last moment") is helpful

I.e. your political commitments are the party’s political commitments. Because there’s no institution there are basically just primary voters and thousands of smaller actors to enforce better decisions upstream.

Democrats argue so much internally that pure partisanship is like a rarity but basically a pure hatred of the GOP and a commitment to sabotage their political goals come hell or high water is what I'm looking for.
