Great post except that’s actually not what will be happening now, or ever, and it only serves to CLEAVE some otherwise quite gettable left-religious folks who worry that the left would go full French Revolution if they ever got the chance. It is voter-repellant that loses us elections.
Church and taxes always gets me, what church gets is not taxable, but what you give to a church is a tax write off.
If someone gives you money, you have to pay taxes on it.
Good Morning Susan, ☕😁 outside the USA if churches are found not to be charitable towards the community, openly discriminate citizens of non or other beliefs or breach section 116 of the Commonwealth constitution separating church & state. They're investigated, charged for tax fraud & closed down.👊✌️
Ah yes... that's how it should be here, too! It irks me greatly that they are able to do as they please, all while dishing out empty "thoughts and prayers".
We got 5 feet of snow here, 5 feet!!!! And I pass 2 every day OMW to work that never once shoveled their sidewalks, but you know darn well, if us tax payers don't clear it, we get denied mail & a citation.
Oh crap... I'm turning into an "old person". Let's face it, they're far worse than that
This is the exact algorithm I came up with to erase the national debt and get those freeloading, Bronze Age motherfuckers settle up on their bar tab once and for all.
This needs to happen! If we don’t start taxing the churches. They will just getting bigger. And the time has come to tax them.
They want to play in the political sandbox this is what happens.

Either they prove they are doing charitable work that is 40% of their intake or get taxed 40% and have that distributed to charities...perhaps providing school lunches.
Still don't want that in schools. They have Sunday school and services already. That's enough. They don't want kids to be indoctrinated, they can start here.
Prayer in schools is CHILD ABUSE filling their heads with myths and lies and demanding submission and to never question anything they're told. Classic fascist tactics.
I live in England and we never had prayer in class, nor did anyone care if you were religious or not. I didn't call myself an atheist until my late 40's/early 50's but I didn't believe in god at 8/9 years old. We had to do religious studies for several years, our teacher never asked if we believed.
We start teaching our children to believe in a God before they can even talk. It's programmed into our thinking from the beginning and taught as an undeniable fact. This programming makes questioning the existence of a divine entity terrifying. This practice has been passed on for generations
Some of it is down to the personality of the teenager especially if that teenage doesn't take shit and makes up their own mind (I'm that rare kind) As you know however, some people aren't aren't mentally strong enough.
I am really skeptical about them, forcing my family's kids to pray in school. Have you ever heard their prayers. Did you see how their evil prayers conjured up one of the most evil men in the world to become ruler of America? Whoa!
Prayer in schools is legal, as long as it's not led by school administration or teachers/coaches. Churches are 501 3 C charitable entities, and only exempt from property taxes. If they violate the rules of IRS non profit charitable status, then their tax exempt status can be revoked.
Given that the separation of church and state meant that churches could not preach religion in government run facilities and, yet, there is prayer in government meetings and they want prayer in schools, it appears that they no longer want this separation. We should, therefore, tax them.
Love this idea!
We had a high school Civic/history teacher who often spent the better part of the class conducting discussions and debates on current events and situations in the world.
Best teacher ever!
Shout out to Mr. Guthrie from Brillion High School, in Wisconsin. Circa 1970s.
I say we don't have prayers in school and still tax the churches. Especially the big churches that never do anything for the community that supports them.
I say sure go ahead prayer in school. BUT you MUST HAVE a prayer from each religion. So if you're going to do a Christian prayer, then you're going to HAVE to do a Muslim prayer, a Jewish prayer, a Wiccan prayer, etc. also!
OR just keep prayer out of the school. Separation of religion & state!!!
Seriously these Christian's who advocate, prayer in school also burn books, torture any child who is questioning sexuality, want abortion out of health care, think assaulting your wife&kids is expected, all these things are against what their God says. Love you others as you love yourself.
Just close the churches then they won't have to pay their fair share and as a plus, they would no longer be teaching our children with made-up stories.
So are all the prayers going to be implemented for every religion? That would take the entire school day. Just say a prayer to Odin and be done with it 😂
We agree.
We vote if religious groups demand 10 commandments in public schools then IRS attends every church meeting for audits.
Attention all churches:
No more exemptions on religious grounds.
All groups shall be removed from exemption from taxation.
This is a fair trade. Since ONLY places of worship are supposed to be tax exempt. Not the drug & grocery store chains, apartment complexes and other business holdings they own.
Anton Szandor Lavey, the late founder of the First Church of Satan in San Francisco hated the way churches took advantage of their tax exempt status.
He proudly chose to voluntarily pay his taxes to keep his coven going.
Basically.
As long as all religions are afforded the same exceptions, I think it's ok. BUT, ALSO, churches that involve themselves in politics IN ANY WAY (preaching, donating, ANYTHING) should immediately lose their tax-exempt status. We need to start enforcing that rule.
I disagree, they should all be taxed. There's no justification for them to be exempt. Religious organizations aren't even required to file a 990 disclosure like other non profits. They are receiving special treatment.
There are churches that are not big corps & do good works in the community. Taxing them would cause them to be closed & would be detrimental to those they help. HOWEVER, if they are *involved* in politics, that should forfeit their tax immunity. After all, "Rend unto Caesar" right Christians? jmo
Most churches aren't helping anyone outside their congregation. Churches are the least efficient non profits. Self reported data indicates that very little money is left after covering their overhead. Many churches spend up to 80-90% of funds just to stay open. What they do with the rest is not
You & I agree on a lot of what you've stated; however, I don't agree with painting all churches with the same brush. Some do great work in their communities. Some do great work for their congregation. Both can need the help, so I'm ok with that, but there are def churches that are terrible.
Reported. Since they refute to fill out a 990 it's safe to assume that what's left goes to church events.
I couldn't care less if they close the doors! We need social programs that are inclusive and don't push an agenda. People shouldn't have to turn to churches for help. The government should

Moochers approve!
But to conservatives, God cannot hear prayers unless they're publicly validated by the government.
The day of reckoning WILL come. They just think it's different from what they're gonna get.
If someone gives you money, you have to pay taxes on it.
KEPT OUT OF PUBLIC SCHOOL
IT INDOCTRINATES THEM
USUALLY FOR HATE OF OTHERS

“No representation without taxation.”
Religion is big business in America. Just ask the mega church people like Joel Osteen.
