My similar complaint is why do password digits instantly turn to a * or • while typing as i log into anything anywhere on my little tiny cellphone keyboard? No one is looking over my shoulder! But i typo cuz i can’t see it!

A forum allowed you to register with a password longer than the amount of characters the login page's password field took.
Steam's web page used to let you create passwords longer than the old Steam client could handle.

If I can't seen what I typed I need to use a weak password or be prepared to take 3+! attempts.
