If we say that liberals care about human rights while libertarians care about property rights (and actually subsume human rights under that category), how do you square that circle?
It occurs to me that a key piece of this will be creating an environment where 20 or 30 liberal democrats can tank a bill that’s a priority of moderate democrats and suffer no political consequences for doing so (as this is more or less how the GOP moved right)
i'm not demanding calls for the death penalty for treason but being Up To The Moment should become something Dems have to prove to their voters in the next couple cycles when they seek renomination
I like that one libertarian economist substacker who wrote an "At what point should we start shooting them?" article in between all his economics ones.
If we were talking about the internet magazine ones, at this point they’re functionally Ernst Niekisch Lite, so most people would be to the left of them on cops at large. But the point does stand that many fairly “normal” liberals seem increasingly radicalised by recent events, and they should be.
(Granted, I am by no means a voice of moderation here nor do I believe my own ideas are necessarily broadly popular, but I do think that more people would be willing to hear me out on *this* subject right now, if perhaps not on the wholesale abolition of the carceral system, capitalism, the state…)
I view them like the neocon bulwark people. Most libertarians sold their souls to the MAGA cult, but those who didn't really, really meant what they said. Now everyone who 'meant it', regardless of ideological stripe, are coalescing around the same set up conclusions.
I mean, he's always been extremely critical of police overreach as long as I've been aware of him (which is like 15 years at this point, jesus), so the sentiment is not new but the magnitude of it is.
The most online, yes, but I don't think it's representative of the most engaged. I give that nod to the local-politics retirees and a very specific genre of empty nester soccer moms.
I feel like every single ICE agent is well aware they're liable, and guilty. There's no way around it. It's in the constitution. There is NO debate to be had. It's treason for all of them. End of story.
The problem with killing enemies of the people is that it's hard to stop. I just want to remove them from money and power, if they get violent about it, that's their problem, and that's not an execution.
I believe that's the mistake that was made at the end of the civil war, though. You can't leave them to just go amass power again and continue their propaganda.
We didn't need to kill that many of them, just people who ordered the murder of noncombatants would have eliminated most of the violent ring leaders of the KKK and the like. But, redistribute their property, completely break the owning class in the South, lifetime bars to any government service too.
Exactly. Jeff Davis, his administration, and ranking Confederate generals, minimally, should have been executed for treason. We compounded the problem post-WW2 by accepting and assimilating nazi scientists, physicians, etc.
Compare east vs west Europe, in the West, Nazis were rehabilitated fairly quickly, but there was a long lasting serious campaign to educate about why they were bad. In the East, Nazis had a lifetime mark, but there was little education about why. Now, the East has the worse Nazi problem.
Our problem isn't the Nazi scientists, but our cultural descendants of the West Indies Slaveholder culture, they are not compatible with democracy. They did the civil war, and they are the backers of the Republican.
There are a few that are not compatible with civilization. We need to dispose of them. The majority, we need to reintegrate. But on our terms. Civilized terms.
which voters -- we think we're the typical voter, but they know (they have numbers) that the typical voter does not yet know how bad this will get and it is ALSO their job to repeat snd prepare them...and one thing that haunts them is, if they don't prepare them, a lot more people will get hurt.

Unless he royally fucks up I think he’s about to win that race out of nowhere
Around a billion horrible SCOTUS rulings ago, one of them was the straw that broke the camel's back.
I think it was the 'Bribery's OK as long as it's a tip AFTER the corrupt service has been performed' ruling.

The ones they didn’t hang or shoot, you mean.
But I agree with your points, all the way around.

Radical is leaving them for the crows.
Treat them accordingly
