Highly recommend an AirTag in checked bags. It won’t get it back to you faster but at least it gives you an idea where it is, speaking from experience. At the very least it’s a stress reducer.
Good. I didn’t realize how useful they were until I needed to track a bag. Airlines aren’t particularly receptive when you say it’s here in X airport, but it makes me feel better. Because I’m a belt and braces woman, I also have a label with a QR code linked to my email on the outside.
My luggage disappeared on a flight back from Rome, they were stuffed with olive oil and all kinds of stuff
After a week I thought I’d never see them again but 6 weeks later they showed up on my doorstep unannounced and everything intact
A friend of mine had his luggage disappear in a direct Paris to DC flight. It was found a couple of months later at a tiny regional airport in Mexico. The original airline didn't even fly there (not even a codeshare).
Having just flown back to the US from Rome I know how stressful this can be. In fact, I once Flew to Malaysia where I was to stay for 6 weeks, and they lost my luggage...
My suitcase once went from Seattle to Atlanta only to find me at home in Wiesloch West Germany. The driver took to my apartment. It was wonderful service.
Whoooo! I only had to fret for the rest of the day when I lost mine once but I can feel you. Back then it didn't help that the guy at the airport refused to answer my question about how likely it was that it was gone and then completely ignored me, turning to the next person with missing luggage.
