To be clear, they’re participating in crowd control and have deployed teams in riot gear. They just aren’t handling arrests of alleged undocumented migrants.

there are dems and independents in red states. even though Texas is a red state almost 1/2 of the state voted blue. my county had 80% vote red but the cities are pretty blue.
