It's infuriating because the whole point of the Billie Jean King/Bobby Riggs match was to prove the "any man can beat any woman" trope was BS. Human beings come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and amounts of athletic ability and myriad amateur sports leagues in the US are happily co-ed.

It's starting to happen in American High School Track & Field. Washington had a transgender girl win the 400m, and Oregon had a winner in the 400 and place 2nd in the 200. Only a 10th grader. They aren't required to go through any hormone treatments before being eligible to compete.

If the Oregon girl continues, she has the potential to become one of the most decorated athletes in the history of oregon athletics. I 100% agree that it doesn't matter at all at the recreational levels. However, I think there is an argument to be had at the competitive levels.

Either way, my example was about Varsity High School sports, where around half of US states dont have any rules in place regarding transgender women. As a result, we are starting to see some examples of transgender women dominating the competiton.

She followed all the rules and went through the hormone treatments, and came out as the best swimmer in the country against women. I don't fault her. She followed the rules that were in place. It seems to me that now that we have a lot more research on the topic, the rules might need to be revisited

Nope. Dividing sports by sex has always been the way that makes the most sense to split up sports. It may not be perfect, but it's the best we've got. Some people are born with a biological advantage. Transgender women raise that advantage by a small percent due to bone density and lung capacity.

Those rules do exist for some competitions, dude. From what I've read, they don't make up for other advantages like bone density and lung capacity. Look at Lia Thomas. Against men, she was an average at best D1 swimmer, who never would have gotten near a championship.

In spirt, anything could happen on any given day. But if we look at every sports records book in history, there has never been a trans athlete that has dominated at any level. Equally, we can’t have a situation where every trans win in schools, colleges etc is blown into “trashing women’s sport.”

in the 8 years leading up to fl's 2021 ban, a total of 11 trans athletes competed in hs sports. not per year. 11 total. only 2 were trans girls competing in girls' sports. "where are all the trans boys?" is a gotcha people tried to ask. well they're most of the trans athletes! do one google search!
