Read a little bit more about this, and goddammit we're getting played you guys. The original link from the ASA is very dishonest. They are moving to the CMS standard for anesthesia billing. In other words, they are going to pay the same way they do for Medicare and Medicaid.

This is not to defend Anthem in any way, but that viral article about anesthesiologists is published by their cartel. There's a reason it's one of the highest paid specialties, and why a very common surprise medical bill is for an out of network anesthesiologist on an in-network surgery

Then there's the "Emergency Surgery" for neck reconstruction where the anesthesiology bill was denied (and then denied on appeal) because the neurosurgeon had to wait until the muscles stopped spasming around my spinal cord: BC/BS denied saying "therfore it wasn't an Emergency".
What a racket.

Given that anthem's sole purpose is to middleman here and they almost certainly aren't lobbying to fix the overbill situation, well, they can take some shit.
Also, this is a big claim, that all these doctors are doing this, with no evidence to support it.
And as you're saying, regardless, the hapless victim is the patient/family who can't possibly track all of this.
And what are your credentials and relevant healthcare experience?
After 2 weeks you start with physiotherapy, 2 times a week (which is not that great, but you could apply for a more intense rehab). And all you pay is 5€ for the pain meds after surgery. Thats ALL you pay.
Public services *should* be well funded.
Almost like medicine shouldn’t be a private industry…
No you don't! CMS sets the industry standard.
It’s fraudulent.
And it’s not the patients fucking fault if their anesthesiologist is fraudulently billing.
Do you really think any of us wake up in the morning and say, “let me ignore my Hippocratic Oath and go fraudulently bill”???
Regardless of specialty.
Are you aware of what anesthesia does for you while you’re under?
Wanna go back to civil war era anesthesia?

The insurer is moving to Medicare standards for a reason, and that reason is widespread industry fraud.
It is frankly suspicious you are attempting to bullshit people about this.
No one cares who brainstormed the conspiracy to commit insurance fraud. Willingly participating is all that counts!
What I’m getting is: anaesthesiologists lie
The US pays providers much much more than other countries
