Yeah, go on & laugh that you haven't used Skype in a decade. I use it weekly to talk to my mother who lives on the other side of the planet. So now I have to find an alternative that is just as accessible for an older person, and also guide my mother through the installation process. Great.

If you are both on Facebook you could try using Messenger to video/audio chat.
But yeah, I use that with my family too.
Also SUPER easy is Google meet, if you use Gmail.
for your use case it was okay, otherwise,

I use it to call abroad and I don't like Teams.
So now my mobile bill is going up when I need to call someone who is not on anything else.
I'd like to ditch WhatsApp (as it's Meta), but sadly everyone seems to be on that these days, so I can't.

Maybe FB Messenger as a startup tab in a browser that will auto update and auto start with OS. The big problem with Chrome is that is sometimes asks for dumbest things on startup. Firefox?
