It very consistently gets football statistics wrong, which I’d have thought was the sort of straightforward cut-and-dry data-based info a computer would be good with.

You should try asking it for three authors who died in a certain year. (We tried this in class a few months ago: less than fifty percent accuracy for such a simple task.)
I asked it what it knew about my own company and it named three books we’ve published but attributed them to authors we’ve never published. This info is all on our website, Amazon, etc, like there’s a large digital presence saying “this book was by this name”.
It named authors who write similar books. So it was doing its predicting thing and going “this is a verse novel for teenagers, so it was probably by this famous person who writes verse novels for teenagers” rather than actually finding the correct answer *right there beside the name of the book*
