Notice to all corporations: if you try to pass the cost of tariffs on to me I will "pass" on buying your product. As far as I'm concerned this is a "you problem"

Resisters, please share the following as reported on MSNBC with your state’s AG, Governor and or legislatures and demand they follow suit on your behalf! Our actions today might be a way to ensure we don’t lose our SSI!
I love that! We can start making own clothes--I buy used anyway, and am planning ahead. We can garden on our apartment patios. I am. We can barter services for as long as we can hold on. We can stock up now on needed items. Just like Covid, we will do what we can to defeat them.
Came here to write the same thing! We'll make do with what we have except essentials like food, gas, etc. until this cancer is eradicated from the White House by any means. #TrumpCrash
I'm with a tiny little half dozen people company. We sell a lot of imported stuff. We're not sure if we'll be around in a couple months. We're working really short margins and only net about 5%. There's no room to absorb the cost increase.
No, we don’t. Maybe you don’t have a red note account? Those are American additives. The Chinese aren’t dim enough to poison their own people. Trump rolled back cancer causing regulations in 2017, so that poison could be directly applied to our crops.
They need to take the hit not the consumer. Funny how they never want to cut from their profits, but have no problem, telling us how expensive things are and raising the price on our side.
Yep, most of them voted for Trump thinking he would help their businesses and do right by them when there was record growth under Biden! They can F all the way off
Bear in mind that with universally applied tariffs, every business is impacted by tariffs. With fuel and energy costs if nothing else. If you avoid every business passing on the costs of tariffs to you, you will need a cabin in the woods where you literally make and grow everything you need.
In 1817 the dandyhorse was invented, basically a bicycle with a seat, handlebars, and two wheels, but without pedals, gears, and chain. Pushed like a skateboard while you sat in the seat, and then you rode it while it cruised.
Made from wood, that could be "no tariff" transport.
I agree for big corps, but I feel really bad about the small mom and pop businesses that are gonna get wrecked by tariffs. Detroit is a small business city and I don’t want to see my fave family owned stores go out of business bc some orange chode is making BS deals on a golf course.
My friend works for a small machine shop AND his fiance is currently out of the country. He just got his life back together last year, and now it looks like he could lose pretty much everything he has going for him.
I can buy from a local shop, but everything they sell is at least partially imported so they're paying the tariff to the wholesaler (if they can even afford to get the goods they need) and they have to pass it along to me.
Too many small businesses bought in to the minimum wage lie and Trump lies. We aren’t here to prop them up. We are here to have discipline and quit letting anyone get away with anything. Target is closing stores. Small businesses will suffer. Sadly. But the poor are our focus.
My daughter-in-law is her sole employee. She's been working on this for 3 years with a unique product sourced in China. Small business is the life-blood of America and the path young people have to success. My kids can't even buy a home, and this will kill their start-up. They voted for Kamala.
Better start speaking up, get creative. There’s a lot of discussion among small biz owners on Reddit asking for help and ideas for their products. Some are saying they may in fact have to go out of business. But the answer isn’t just that the consumer bears the brunt of it. Time to get in the fight!
If you actually believes tariffs help, that's the idea--it encourages you to buy non-tariffed (i.e., American made) goods. In real life that's now how the world works because you can't really do what you're proposing.
I work for a small company that is going to be hit very, very hard. But what we sell will go up everywhere because of tariffs, not just with us. I am not confident.
Look, I’m boycotting so many places that I am going to need to start dumpster diving on principle soon, but if the product is from a country that has universal healthcare it’s going in my cart.
Corporations: That's fine, we'll just buy & snuff out all of your other options so that you either choose us or do without. It's not like this admin's going to nail us for monopolies or anything.
Playing devil's advocate here; not siding w/ corpos.
From reading most of these posts, many Americans are working together. It's unfortunate that maga drove a wedge between so many Americans. At least now more are uniting against him, the instigator of all this hate.
I feel you but you’re not going to find anything tariff free. Anyone who is not importing a good or service has raised their prices anyway. Somehow some way, everything comes from overseas. Ex: We make our own pipe but we import the minerals & it’s still “melted & mfd in the US”
"I'll only buy American!" ... who makes the packaging for toothpaste, etc.? Ball Corporation makes beverage cans - many are made in China ... so pop and beer will go up even if the product inside may be fully American.
I meant the government. WE/ you & me can only boycott. That’s about the only effective thing left we can do. Keep being a pain & not cooperating. But he CAN be stopped at any point. Congress can do that
Even if you're not importing goods, you're most likely using imported materials and supplies to make things. Even if those supplies are all made in the USA. What about all the tools? It takes materials and supplies to make materials and supplies. It's a great big snowball effect.
There is going to be a change in consumption.
Many will learn the difference between needing to pay the bills before getting the new game or phone or whatever ppl spend money on nowadays.
I worry about the price of medications and groceries.
Utilities price will increase, another worry.
Good luck with that. From medicine to makeup. From tools to toothpaste. From everyday items to big purchases. When they say it’s going to hit the average American family approx $6,000, that doesn’t include buying a car, or a new appliance, or clothes or…
As a small business owner I took this to mean the large companies “corporations” versus people like myself, whose business is actually affected. Walmart/Target/Amazon can eat the costs from the leader they continue to kowtow to. Or in my world Fender/Gibson/etc.
Yes, I can build left handed guitars (and basses) no problem! If you want to reach out about a project happy to discuss it with you. This is a link to my website project request form: https://www.applebiteguitars.com/contact
I"ve said this before: After experiencing tough economic times during the last 23 years in this country (including 2008 crisis, & COVID) I feel better prepared for this wave once again eating just Rice/Beans. Spoiled brats from the TSLA/BTC/WallStreet world will not be able to live 1 day like this

"During Robert Unanue's tenure as CEO, he has stirred controversy for his staunch support for Donald Trump, as well as his statements that the 2020 election, which was lost by Donald Trump, was rigged.[4][5]."
I’ve heard a similar sentiments from immigrant day laborers. One Venezuelan who came up from Chile said that compared to dealing with thieves praying on them in Mexico, bribing border guards in Peru or climbing an impossibly hard mud
Mountain in Panama called “La llorona” everything else seems easy.
Funny how the buck ALWAYS stops at the consumer. Supplier can pass costs on to wholesaler. Wholesaler can pass costs on to the retailer. Retailer can pass costs on to the consumer. But wait, I can't seem to pass the cost onto my employer..........capitalism is a scam.
Big business CEOs can take a well deserved pay cut to help cover their new expenses, especially those that donated millions to Trump. They bought this issue for themselves.
Part of the movement of mass demonstrations against Trump needs to be a mass refusal to participate in the consumer economy, to the extent that it's possible. Obviously people need food, basic things, etc. But wants, likes, luxuries, "that looks cool," need to be set aside.
Yea, and at the very least buy local. Half of these corpo cucks immediately abandoned us when Trump was inaugurated. I will literally never, NEVER buy from Target again. Fuck them.
You would need to have knowledge of the entire supply chain of every product you buy to know that. And you would have to track the cost of everything you buy too.
My maga cousins husband has a business making kitchen cabinets. I would not be sad if he loses his business due to high costs. Couldn’t happen to a better magat. FAFO
My behavior on this matter is simple, jack up the price on goods and services my fixed income won't handle, and I simply won't buy. Gouging prices after disasters and pandemics gets you the same response from me, BTW
I would accept the language and intent, but propose an amendment that we should pass on businesses that sponsored or funded Trump’s campaign or inauguration and which have publicly supported him?
I just finished a docuseries on youtube about the soviet union and the gulags. And it got me thinking. The gulag was only shutdown because it was not profitable anymore. Simply put, the suffering is ok so long as the money is flowing. I feel this puts us in a unique situation.
If we as Americans can stop the flow of money, we may be able to slow the suffering. I realize it wont fix everything. but it will cripple this regime. All of their wealth is built on make believe wealth, stocks, futures etc. built on the backs of workers.
The difference between a want and a need is obvious if you’re not a consumer whore. If you need something, you need it. If you want it, don’t buy it. Many people go without their needs, you’ll survive without your wants. 11 times out of 10 you’re being ripped off anyway.
Just in case anyone out there is still trying to convince themselves that "I didn't vote for this... no one could have seen it coming..." Not an economist, but we started stocking up right after the election, bc we KNEW this would happen. Enjoy your tariffs.
Well, you may not be able to find those products anywhere then. You're going to be hard pressed to find companies that just decide to eat a loss for the good of their customers.
Even American made products are going to get hit with tariffs. The tools they use, the fuel, the trucks, the lights in the stores. You're not going to escape those tariffs.
What is more likely to happen is many will stop selling to US companies and you won't be able to buy things because they won't be available except on the flourishing black market.
Food, books, and absolute necessities are all I’ve been buying this year and will continue for quite a while. And buying the books from a local book store.
Tough shit.
I was paying $15/hr for help in my small business in 2003.
No, not everyone deserves a business. Let it cut in to their profit and let them handle that or shut down.
Too many of them voted for Trump.
Time to get in the fight! There’s a lot of discussion among small biz owners on Reddit asking for help and ideas for their products. Some are saying they may have to go out of business. But the answer isn’t just that the consumer bears the brunt of it. The administration must be held accountable!
I mean, you're not going to be able to do this to any great extent. Period. This isn't a problem that will only affect luxury goods. It will drive up the costs of EVERYTHING, and it won't just be big box corporations.
LOVE this attitude and approach! Businesses must get behind this fight. They better start speaking up to Congress and the administration because consumers are not going to accept just throwing their money away, especially when all of this is TOTALLY unnecessary.

Others, bigger, will fire people as shareholders continue to ask for growth and returns so big ones will not absorb increased costs long term. Options will be fewer and expensive.

Almost forgot, own a car brand you can be proud of, not Tesla.
Not buying shit will be necessary but will only cause businesses to close and a recession to rise.
That's where they get us.
Made from wood, that could be "no tariff" transport.
How much coffee do you grow in the USA?

Do you know of another one?

we can get along without
hurt their bottom lines

Seriously, sign me up...
No rights? No swipes.
We have WAY too much discarded clothing in perfect condition in this country...
To show us it's not a you problem. It's a you problem
exactly
Maybe I will have more $ to help those that the Trump administration is trying to kill
We can and will make change.
Depression anyone?
