Nostalgia in politics can work for more than one thing, it doesn't only have to be a guy saying "Don't you miss being racist" it could be a different guy saying "Remember when people had pensions"

Company pensions, maybe; a lot of union pensions carried from job to job, and public sector pensions also accomodated job mobility. My husband has a state pension which covers the time he worked at a community college and at two departments in the state system.
Remember when once a week you and your union buddies made sure you were getting paid/protected enough at work and then went out for drinks after? And if you weren't you just collective told your boss to fuck off until they met your demands? Good times.
Remember when stock buybacks were heavily restricted and often treated as market manipulation before 1982 and monopolies/cartels were recognized as bad instead of “efficient”because they both pervert capitalism into feudalism?
Remember when you could spend your whole life working at one place, making deep connections with co-workers who also lived near you while your kids all went to the same school? I know that sounds preposterous now, almost reactionary, but there was something good about that too.
He has a mini fan club on his presidential library's YouTube channel who watch clips of him speaking coherently 4 an interview or a speech b4 he became president and are in awe and can't believe "how the mainstream media/Democrats have portrayed him and sullied his good name"
Well you obviously have to get rid of all those evil illegals living the high life on the dole before you can have enough resources to even think about pensions, duh
read some of the old Dave Berg strips in MAD Magazine and seeing office workers complain about their pension and the size of their Christmas bonus and it feels practically antediluvian
You mean it's not normal to have 2 pay a monthly subscription fee to use the AC in your car? And to have to decide if you can splurge and upgrade to the Gold Premium Tier to "unlock" the thermostat below 70°?
I'm obviously exaggerating but that's basically where we're headed 😩

In other words, the ridiculously low top tax rates have only been around since fairly recently.
