In Idaho it is possible his treatment could be delayed momentarily while the staff are dealing with another miscarriage issue bleeding out at the emergency entrance.
What I have seen is a sick person denied effective treatment due to cost. Denied totally or pseudo denied by an ungodly out of pocket expense to be payed by the sick person for the treatment prescribed by the docs. So not necessarily denied in the waiting room, but denied while waiting.
The amount of men I have seen in the ER getting full workups for a little anxiety, because it might be cardiac. At the same time women’s serious health conditions are called anxiety with no tests at all.
It’s called medical gaslighting. It’s systemic misogyny and racism from how doctors have been trained, full parts of women’s anatomy missing from medical textbooks, few studies on effects of medication on females. Men die because they avoid doctors. Women die because doctors ignore their symptoms.
Bad medical care happens everywhere to all demographics. Not saying women don’t catch a higher percentage though.
We actively discourage people from becoming Doctors in the US with high education bills, high insurance bills, HMOs and insurance companies riding them.
Health care for profit is destructive to society as a whole at all levels.
Profiteering during a natural disaster is against the law. Why is it okay when it only affects one person. Healthcare here is “How much would you pay to live?”
i absolutely agree. but here in florida, they WILL tell you to go back to the waiting room and wait till your closer to death. my mom was an er nurse and shed regularly talk about all the patients shed say "its not that serious" to. despite her not knowing what was actually going on with them.
a person came in on one of her shifts wkth abdominal pain...they had a blockage, my mom literally mocked this person later in the day going "i cant believe they went to the hospital because their TuMmY huRt"
i was friends with that person unbeknownst the her and they had to go to a different ER.
37 years a nurse. Posted this is not always the case, then deleted as I thought it would deter from the intent of the conversation. Sadly, this can happen to anyone.
oh totally, not all nurses are like this, trust me when i say my mother is just genuinely evil. but all it takes is one bad person in the medical field to hurt THOUSANDS of innocent people.
In Ireland we had this same situation for decades driven by the Catholic Church, then Savita Halappanavar died from sepsis as doctors refused to treat her:
Whoa! That's news to me. I have a low enough opinion of religion, any religion, but for this to have happened in Ireland is appalling. I thought you lot were civilised. More than us Britons anyway.
After that case and the so called 'X Case' Ireland voted in a referendum for the overwhelming change to abortion laws, it's now legal..... and while we were at that we also voted overwhelmingly for LGBTQ+ rights to marry.
Thank you for the links. This is exactly what I meant. Appalling abuse. Fortunately Ireland is a very different country now as they investigate these atrocities.
Pass a law that a woman who is ready to miscarry but is put on a delay for treatment must be admitted to the hospital, exam hourly by cert Dr qualified to deliver or perform a d&c, must have her vitals checked by a cert RN @15 minutes until treated. And patient may NOT be billed for ‘pre-care’.
Something has to change. I was diagnosed with melanoma in April. I had surgery which was $8000 out of pocket. I then needed 12 chemo infusions. Ins. approved 6. They are $27,000 and change per infusion. I pay it, or I die. That should never be a choice. Either should having to leave the country.
Unacceptable! I’m sorry you have to fight the insurance company while fighting cancer.
Do you have the resources to pursue treatment out of the US? I hate to suggest this because I shouldn’t have to. But, I have met people in India from Arab countries who were there for chemo.
There is a law requiring hospitals to treat persons who are in life saving situations, whether they have insurance or not. After stabilizing the person the hospital can toss the person out. They do now need a lawyer for the decisions about pregnancy.
you’re so close. legislators shouldn’t be putting doctors and their patients in this fucking position. and you should shut your pie hole when you’re not going to read up on an issue. I would think law school would have taught you that, but I guess you only paid attention in shitbag school.
I've only seen one article on this issue - legislation to blame for failure to provide abortion which caused deaths. If you could provide any, I'll certainly read them. Thank you.
First Do No Harm is the oath doctors take, now thanks 2 trump it’s 1st DO HARM,why is it so easy 2 follow the path of evil look at Hitler he ordered his Gestapo 2 killed millions of Jews n they happily obeyed then claimed they were just following orders looks like that’s what Americans are doing to😢😠
https://bsky.app/profile/brian3000.bsky.social/post/3lc25bmmc6k25 if swearing bothers you this isn't your song as I told it to make it extra angry and you swear words when appropriate, and I guess the AI realized how many swear words a song about Dobbs required.
I've even noticed this at our current doctors office. My spouse goes in there with a complaint? "Can't sleep" OH you get a sleep study! "Feeling dizzy" OH! Let's see if you have an issue or need a stent!" Me? My legs are numb "Oh well, nothing to do about that!"
I put up with this double standard for decades but last year said no more. I know not every one has the ability to do this but if you can, start FIRING crappy doctors. I kept firing doctors until I found one who listened. They do exist!
Exactly. Husband says “you should tell the doctor” I have I said. He went in with me and heard the difference himself. I have given up here. I will wait until I get back to Europe.
I think I'm going to have my spouse start coming with me too. Geez, it's as though we are children who won't be heard unless a man is sitting there. FFS.
Not all neurologists specialize in MS diagnosis and treatment. So get a 2nd and 3rd opinion, and push for the MRI/spinal cord testing. Those are clearer indicators of damage.
Thank you! None of this was suggested to me except for the MRI. I had no idea what to even ask for. This has got progressively worse over the last year. I suspected possibly MS but, I'd like to know. I mean it's not happening for zero reason.
We have all kinds of stuff in our family, diseases that I was expecting: cancer, diabetes, heart issues. No one has MS, so when this cropped up, I was like "HUH?" But yes, it's important to know, because delay in treatment means more damage to brain and spine. This stuff stacks up ugly.
Or she has no value, and in this day and age,she is being told sit down and be quiet, when we know young girls are surpassing most boys in grades and ambition.
As someone whose father voted for Trump, and a few days later in the middle of the “your body my choice” mess, announced “I voted for Trump and I won’t apologize to any man!”
Sadly, you are correct
They.
Do.
Not.
Care.
He didn’t even get the irony of what he said, and when he said it.
I fully recognize that and acknowledge you. Moving is impossible for some people. Even where it's possible, it's still a crazy decision to have to make to be in a safer space legally as a woman.
Why do my right wing extremist "friends" (yes, I still have some) think they are the only ones who own guns and know how to shoot? Can you answer this? I don't own guns though.
Same. A trumper friend of a family member asked what I would do if we were in a civil war. I guess I looked confused because he asked if owned any guns. I said of course. He was surprised, asked how many. I said 18. He was genuinely confused. I didn't tell him I was joking.
They want to suppress women and anyone they consider weaker than themselves. They are so hypocritical. They actually want other people surpressed, so they can dominate them….It’s not the suppression they are complaining about, it’s the domination of others they want.
As a Canadian, reading these American healthcare horror stories is absolutely stunning. We have our own challenges here, but I wouldn’t trade our system for yours for anything. Even our own brain dead Conservative Party knows it would be political suicide to change it.
Please stay vigilant. While regular, decent people across the world recoil in fresh horror at seeing the American health care system, 1%ers in thise same countries are lighting up smiles and gathering their lobbying dollars.
They'll shift Canada's system closer to USA's if they can.
Not a day goes by that the Canadian right-wing don't think about the money they can get if we were to change to an American style system. American spends DOUBLE the amount that Canada spends per capita on healthcare. Greedy people see the difference and want it.
I think it’s deeper than that; they know that there’s a tsunami of baby boomers who are becoming elderly and they want a big piece of the financial pie thats going to be needed to look after them (disclosure: I’m a boomer myself).
Folks need to organize. There's too much complacency, which I understand. They try to make us work harder, longer, for less to keep us exhausted and docile.
I used to think that was conspiracy-adjacent, and I don't think it's a literal shadowy cabal, but rather the unconscious aims of all the rich.
The US has always been a cautionary tale. Marginalized people spoke loudly and passionately about healthcare, criminal justice, banking, education . . . all oppressive systems.
The right-wing keep trying to break universal health care systems whenever they get into power. We see it in the UK as well as here in Canada. They want people to give up on public healthcare so they'll accept a private system or a partially private system; two tiered so the rich can jump the line.
Conservative MPs regularly make private member bills to limit access to abortions. If they get a majority, we could easily lose access to reproductive healthcare.
We should always remain vigilant and we should always hold the party leaders accountable for their own members. However, I would love to see the Cons to make this an election issue because of the damage it would do to them. The SCC ruled that abortion is a personal healthcare issue
I appreciate your concern but imo it would be a futile gesture because of the former SCC decision. Our SC is not compromised like the SCOTUS is so the likely hood of a reversal is zero
Do you see people making comments to the effect of long wait times too long, poor quality care?
Pay attention to those. That's how it starts, bad actors making little comments to erode trust in the system so they'll want change. Any change (that's how we got here in the US)
To give you a simple example, I fractured a bone in my foot a few years back. A visit to the ER, casted, 3 follow up appointments with an orthopaedic surgeon with accompanying X-rays. Total cost to me was the gas to get to the hospital. Walking cast was paid for by my drug plan which I donated after
I bet it would. The real advantage is that you can’t be denied coverage because of a pre existing condition. The system is based on need, so there are waiting lists for knee replacements etc but if you have a stroke or heart attack you get very fast treatment of course
(2/2) Or until women in the workplace are declared an attack on the nuclear family concept? Or until men are routinely treated first in emergency rooms no matter what the condition?
Until women begin claiming their space in numbers bigger than the 2024 elections reflect, this will escalate. The focus on reproductive rights, while indeed valid, is something of a smokescreen. How long until women of a certain age are deemed an unnecessary burden on society? (1/1)
Technology is supposed to make life easier by doing a lot of the work for us. That could mean that housing/food/clothes etc could be provided to people OR a handful of people can have everything while the rest starve. Most people choose the starve option. For themselves.
That is MAGA for you. Men are important. Women aren't. They disdain women, believe they only exist for male pleasure & reproduction, & they fear non-standard forms of gender identity and sexual orientation.
“I have never heard of a man facing a life-threatening emergency and being told to go back to the waiting room until he gets closer to death before they will treat him. They don’t call lawyers to ask if they can treat him. They don’t call lawmakers.
What is shocking is providers are not doing whatever they can to provide life saving care when needed…shocking…providers could just say no to this incredibly cruel approach to a woman’s healthcare
healthcare providers have licenses. The licenses are provided by the state. You follow the law or you lose your license. Doctors in Texas are petitioning to have the law changed there because of this. Other doctors are leaving Texas.
Then get arrested. Doesn’t seem to be much of a choice between allowing women to die through your own inaction or actions thus making you actually a killer or spending a night in jail or losing your license and maybe doing something else. But once you submit …doctors have to stand up.
Yes. The docs and and in hospital administrators and their lawyers, of course are doing a heavy lifting of actually denying care. They must stop submission to this evil because as of now they are the evil. and the more they obey, the more evil will come that they will obey.
Have you seen or heard of a woman, who is pregnant who presents with no fetal heartbeat, no fetal movement, intermittent to heavy purulent vaginal discharge, diagnosis fetal demise…but told to go home & wait with a dead now decomposing baby inside her? Go home until you are septic!!! I have.
I am so sorry this happened to you, and so sorry for the loss of your tiny one. As a medical professional, this makes my blood boil. This is not healthcare, this is Russian roulette with women’s lives. Hopefully, someone went over the pamphlet with you, & and recommended grief counseling?

It seems like y'all put this on the insurance companies alone, when you should put blame on the doctors too! Doctors are supposed to save lives no matter what. Instead, they let their patients die because insurance won't pay? That makes no sense!
You will never, NEVER, have to convince me to care about the well-being of another human by trying to relate to them as my own family member. ❤️
Among the many human rights issues that I follow and for which I advocate, this hasn't been on my radar... this doesn't surprise me with news these days.
To be clear, I strongly advocate (vote, email, rally, donate) for women's health rights, including abortion. I just haven't heard of waiting until someone is closer to a life-threatening situation (or at least the way this graphic was worded).
To be clear: I've voted, emailed (representatives), attended rallies and donated for women's health rights, including abortion, for decades.
I simply didn't make a connection with this graphic, having not heard news of situations for which it relates. Not surprising, as biased as the news is..
👍 I've voted, emailed (senators), attended rallies and donated for the health rights of women for decades.
I simply didn't make a connection with this graphic, possibly having not heard news of situations for which it relates. Not surprising, as biased as the news has become.
Thank you. 🙏 I've voted, emailed (senators), attended rallies and donated for the health rights of women for decades.

Google Amber Thurman. Any state disbanding their infant & Mother mortality boards are hiding how many are dying, or have life-long problems, with the negative impact of state mandated laws.
Women who are miscarrying, septic due to a missed miscarriage, or having other pregnancy complications from nonviable pregnancies are having to wait until they are critical/on deaths door to get care and remove an already unviable fetus because doctors are scared to be sued or lose licensure.
I've voted, emailed (senators), attended rallies and donated for the health rights of women for decades.

No worries. You're not willfully ignorant and you genuinely asked. It does say a lot about our general algorithms though - you're a man so women dying painful drawn out deaths doesn't affect you so you don't need to know, even if you'd actually care in real life.
That perspective also gives me more empathy for Rump supporters. Many of them don't actually know what they voted for. I've seen those news headline comparisons between Dem and Rep demographics. It's frightening how different they are!
They are indeed in a psychologically curated echo chamber that literally gives them a high off anger and outrage but on the other hand, they literally have to be deprogrammed using anti cult brainwashing techniques to regain any semblance of logic. You can't save someone from themselves.
The more I read your comments the more disgusted I am by the thought of how many uneducated men you may have turned AGAINST women's reproductive rights because of your tantrums. You even berated me, a lifelong advocate.
You don't help a cause or group of people by making others resent them.
News flash: there are LOTs of issues happening, and not EVERY person will be aware of EVERY one. Not helped by the inconsistency of news coverage.
Human rights and environmental issues are my focus, to the best of my ability. And only compassionate dialogue will gain more supporters for the causes.
Not everyone follows politics, his was just an honest ask.
Love that for him, honestly.
Anyone involved in healthcare, science, etc. are questioning the future and looking at a hellscape
Because of the Supreme Court’s decision on Roe & the Twisted Republicans taking this to the extreme this is what is happening to child bearing women in our country!! This is Insane!! Republicans should be held criminally responsible!!!!
We all know something is not right about this election. Any one with common sense knows there is no fucking way Trump won all control and the popular vote. President Biden if you allow this to happen it will never stop. America will be over.
I have suggested that all young males have their "tubes tied", so to speak, until they are old enough and ready to start a family. I have suggested we come up with a form of birth control men could take daily.
Vasectomies are at an all time high. A male birth control pill exists, but the side effects (same as for women) are “too difficult“ for it the delicate dudes to endure.
Prudishness toward body parts and sexual terminology “so to speak” is patriarchal conditioning we need to ditch immediately.
Forty five percent of white women voted for this. I’ll never understand or forgive that. This total disregard for stripping away rights won after many long hard and costly battles over the last 60 years is completely astounding and entirely unacceptable.
I’m saying 45% of white women voted for the orangutan knowing that he’ll further limit women’s access to healthcare and he’ll further criminalize women seeking abortions or birth control.
Bot? You’re ridiculous.
Just checking. I saw your profile and kinda knew, but whoever creates the bots (especially the oppositional ones grab anti-trump commentary and locates them in blue cities, but then has crazy responses to posts where there should be alignment). Thank you for responding. I am often ridiculous. 😘
Yeah and they say "well no male medical issue involves another human life" as their argument ... even though most abortions are well before any embryo could be considered a "person".
They do not want to be part of the USA. The felon want to take over Canada and Mexico if his tariffs hurt them enough. So, please, Mexico and Canada stand firm and tariff us back twice as much. You have to stand up to him!!
When I had a blood infection, that would have killed me if I was treated 2 hours later by the time I was actually admitted. I was in the waiting room from around noon till 8 pm. I was vomiting shaking and couldn't sit up without help. They do this shit all the time if you're poor.
Happened to women in Texas and other states with insane reproduction laws. Government in the bedrooms means women who miscarry being denied health care and sending them to their graves. Children deserves to have alive and well mothers. Not them dying in hospitals or emergency rooms or in their cars.
Well, my brother has been in the waiting room in Vegas for nearly 24 hours now, because they don’t have a room for him. Not quite the same, but it sucks.
While it does suck, the overcrowding of emergency medical services is NOT AT ALL the same as someone being turned away from needed medical care because doctors and hospitals are afraid of political repercussions for providing care.
While that may have been your intent, your comment reads as an attempt to deflect the issue of the OP… discriminatory, life-threatening healthcare practices against women… and change the subject to a general “healthcare is broken” for men, too. Your point is good, but this is the wrong thread.
Consequences of pro-lifers years of protest come to fruition.
I had a miscarriage of a much wanted pregnancy at 16 weeks. Abortion was legal. Had it not been, I probably would not be typing this today.
This might be true, but the flip side is the medical bill that puts way too many financial duress.
For fun, get an itemized bill of a basic year physical. In my case, this is a 20 minute weight/BP check, breathe, conversation w/doctor. Insurance billed nearly $400.
I had been sick for awhile went to Er got a full work up, took about 4 hrs. Final bills $18k. I had a medical plan no copay no deductible. Would have devastated us otherwise. So it’s your health or poverty. What a choice.
Agreed, but we are both in our 70's, making that kind of move would require more $ & physicality than we have. My husband hurt his back in 2000 & we have been paying for much of his care out of pocket the last 24 yrs. We finally found a dr who could help him.
It's great to find the right dr!! I'm happy for you - and after 24 yr, that must be a relief.
I hear you about moving. I made a plan to move my dad to Canada when he was in his 90s and by the time everything was finalized he was needing constant care, so it didn't work out.
I was young when I moved to Canada, so I just had a backpack and a sleeping bag and $100 (graduation presents). I guess it would be trickier if one were older.
The estimated cost to move to Canada is about 25000 us dollars and you have to have a desirable skill, a Canadian spouse, or a waiting job. Most Americans have no savings. "Just leave" isn't a viable strategy in the modern era of hyper restricted immigration.
You're fortunate. Since around Covid, Canada has become particular with those wanting to live there. I looked a could of years ago. Even tighter right now.
I am always amazed at ppl who never look at the EOB they get from Insurance. When I had my hysterectomy, I called the hospital and asked for an itemized statement. Response, your insurance paid everything but deductible. I said I wanted the statement. Sure enough I was billed double on items.
Actually, one sad case I saw on FB in which insurer said man was too close to death to be given an antibiotic, so he died painfully of sepsis. I found myself praying that the post was untrue.
Most men, especially legislators, are completely clueless as to what women go through while pregnant. They don’t understand the dangers involved, the total physical, emotional, & psychological changes. They equate “natural” with “easy.”
Just putting the information out there, in case anyone is unaware, there is a option in your settings that won’t allow you to hit post unless you add alt text.
Maybe not life threatening, but I was treated very poorly while suffering a kidney stone blockage because I lacked insurance. They made me sit in a wooden chair and walk to my EKG. All without any pain relief.
We treat, then we get hit with plethora of paperwork that our hospital board has to waste time rationalizing and fighting insurance companies for. Most of the time we just pay them money to settle because it’s more trouble than it’s worth. System is broken.
my youngest brother, at 21 yrs went to the ER~vomiting for days, jaundice~Sent him home with orders to eat a low fat diet'~~the next day he was hallucinating, didn't know anyone around him~sent to hospital in ambulance~Admitted~2 days later was on a vent and dialysis~2 weeks later he was dead
He was diagnosed~the ER doc was negligent when he sent him home without doing further tests which would have shown how close to death he was~even when he was admitted the doctors were one step behind the entire time`~John suffered~it was a horrible death that my mom & siblings had to watch
this all happened years ago~But that much grief~Well, any grief stays with you. You just get so used to it~you absorb it so it becomes such a part of you that you aren't feeling it so much. But the Holidays, birthdays & death anniversaries brings it up front~Sorry. I don't talk about this on SM😢
the real bitch of it~our sister had been killed in a car accident 2 yrs before John~We were still reeling from that shock~then several years after John~my older brother committed suicide~the most recent was my sister from cancer. There were 8 of us~the holidays are rough~too many of us missing
It's alot. I am really surprised at myself for sharing this. I will mention one or the other if it relates to a topic. But I never put it all out there like this Holidays. Rough
Clear symptoms of liver failure. I would sue them. I know it won’t help your pain. But every time we don’t hold the medical world responsible for malpractice or negligence it just allows them to repeat it.
Yes. And they didn't even do liver enzymes. We did sue. Law here says you can only sue a doctor for what he DOES to harm/kill a patient. Can't sue for what he DOESN'T do. How f*cked up is that? So causing the death thru negligence is ok I guess
That isn’t true in the US. You can sue for both. Standard of Care is what is used in malpractice cases. And since his symptoms were classic for liver failure - liver enzymes should have been one of the first things they did.
I don’t know why you were not told this by your attorney.
I am an RN and raised all these questions. I was all over those doctors, but they were always just one step behind. Our lawyer filed suit. We went to court. A jury was seated.
1/2
My mom testified. After lunch, the judge said he was dismissing the case for the reason I told you. As the jurors were leaving, i asked them if they agreed with the judge. Every single one of them said,' Based on the law as the judge explained it to us; yes, he made the right call 2/2
No they just send them home like they did my dad until he died. The hospitals kicked him out 4 times when he could still be saved. Our healthcare system is broken.
But did they consult with lawyers before being callous?
Was there legislation in place that affected his care, or lack of?
Because if you're pregnant, they'll consult lawyers before they callously tell you to leave.
No. Pretty sure they didn't. It was more about what the insurance companies wanted to not pay for. My sister is in the medical field and was super pissed.
The worse part was that he was the primary care taker for my mom who had Alzheimer's. She died 3 months later. Life has been really rough the pass 2 years.
Canada is not amerika. We don't have cities & roads everywhere. We are a country of 38 million, the same population as California. Does that info put this issue in perspective for you?
I don't know what happened to my other comment but what I essentially said is IT DOESN'T MATTER THAT CANADA DOESN'T HAVE CITIES AND ROADS EVERYWHERE. That fact is little consolation to women who can't access an abortion!! It sucks!
Same here in the UK. Good medical treatment rules. I am going in for my third piece of spinal surgery tomorrow afternoon. Total cost to me - excess £0. Cost of treatment £0. Cost of painkillers etc £0. Cost of physio afterwards £0. Acupuncture £0. 5 week checkup by surgeon £0.
Here in the US, the three spinal procedures (injections, not surgeries) that I had in the last year and a half cost me several thousand dollars out of pocket, and that's with comparatively "excellent" medical insurance.
Thrilled for you, for your access to the NHS! ✌️
But, oddly enough, you have heard of life-threatening emergencies where they send women back to the waiting room until she gets closer to death before they treat her, because she might be pregnant and that treatment might abort the fetus.
Well white women in Merica just voted to insure this will keep happening. Yep. At least in 2016 when white women voted for Trump the first time Roe was still the law. Now what's their excuse? They secretly hate their own daughters and themselves?? Please explain. I'm confused.
Trump got the majority white female vote in 2016 & 2024 and in 2020 Biden won because of the black female vote. Please don't expect me NOT be angry with my so called sisters. You and I both voted for Harris but far too many are fine with their daughters bleeding out on hospital floors. I'm appalled
I didn't say you couldn't be angry... but hate speech is a thing on both sides of the spectrum. Just calling it as I see it. I'm unhappy too, just trying to cope by bringing positive mind changing conversations to those who voted for him. Polarizing our sisters isn't going to bring them over.
And FYI my line in the sand was babies in cages. After Trump & his crew of barbarians did that I swore anyone who could vote for him again was just as bad. I stand by that & owe them nothing. People who could overlook that immorality are immoral themselves. I don't do "positive" with barbarians.
Gloves off. They put my SS at risk. F these so called sisters. I owe no Kumbaya to anyone who voted for a man who put babies in cages never to be returned to their families. I don't give a damn about making "positive" with people who turned their back on responsibility to Democracy & decency.
Methinks you’ve never spent time in an ER in NYC. Trust me when I say that when I once fainted and hit my head on the cast iron radiator, I STILL had to wait for four hours in the waiting room until seen and then waited on a gurney for another 5 hours until treated, so, yea it does fucking happen
Maybe a generation of women should opt out of men and babies. We're already lower than replacement rate. All it would take is women right now to get sterilized. Like not buying products, this sends an immediate message.
Exactly!! It’s forming up slightly differently here, but there are women-only, no TERF, inclusive groups that I belong to. I do worry about forced birth centers (like Handmaid’s Tale) for women in evangelical states. Not sure it will happen in Calif., but Trump could roll the army in easily.
Wait… this is about what happens when you are a woman dying because they won’t operate worried they will be held liable for causing an abortion.😐😑 my response earlier does not apply to this realization. I thought you were accusing doctors for the sins of insurance companies.
It's so outrageous there should be absolutely no question about it. But the callousness of the GOP proves that without liberals, we would live like women in Afghanistan. They want nothing less than total dominance and subjugation of women.
I agree. I think it's racism at the core. I think women like their 2nd place in line in the patriarchy. #1 White men, #2 White women. #3 everybody else. Why would they give up that privilege? I think they believe they will stay safe being #2 & nothing bad will happen to them. I hope FAFO happens.
Reagan passed a law forcing hospitals to accept anyone.
A big cause of an explosion in expenses:
1. Working class poor can't afford regular doctor visits.
2. Getting extremely expensive care at ER too late
If other countries can figure out how to do universal healthcare, we can! Someone could convince Donald that he would be remembered forever if he did that.
But Medicare needs an overhaul, because you need a supplemental, a prescription plan, a dental plan and a vision plan. So 80% of your insurance plans are still from for profit insurance bastards. And if you get suckered by Medicare Advantage, 100% are.
I would. It was free and had better coverage. I hated going on Medicare and having to pay monthly premiums. And they sometimes cancel prescription plans so you have to go find another.
I've never heard of anyone with free ObamaCare.
Interesting. Most people pay waaaay too much under ObamaCare.
Medicaid isn't bad, but one has to be dirt poor to get that.
Most people I know paid nothing for Obamacare, as long as your under 400% of the poverty level. I saved about 72k in premiums over 6 years, and I'm extremely grateful.
I keep telling people it’s more expensive to not have Medicare for all! We all pay higher insurance premiums when someone w/out health insurance waits until a problem becomes chronic and ends up in the ER/hospitalized. Do people actually think the hospital just writes off the cost of that care?
Shows the difference between men’s healthcare and women's healthcare.
Women are not part of the study for new medication because they provide too many variables.
Very eye opening.
Also, apologies for the ramble. Learning more about the medical misogyny and how deep it runs in the medical industry, as well as the racism? It's insane. And needs to change
It's a buried and unknown issue. I had an inkling about it but didn't understand the depth and pervasiveness until I read, 'Eve How the Female Body Drove 200 Million Years of Human Evolution' by Cat Bohannon. Fascinating read
-monthly pain management for crippling PCOS related symptoms. It takes me out of work a lot. Yet, they still refuse to give me anything stronger then ibuprofen
I'll add that one to my reading list. My eyes opened to it mostly when I started looking into the history of medical innovations. I get fixated on random things. And then my own medical health journey opened my eyes even more. The amount of times I've been called a pill seeker for trying to get-
I added the 2 you suggested 2 mine. I began to notice it when I went through my surgeries over the years. It seemed like the women weren't getting the same care and treatment as me. I started poking around and it came apparent that the medical system wasn't realizing men and women aren't the same.

It actually is. As we kind of need to know how pharmaceuticals affe t women of child bearing age. As hormones can and do alter and affect the effectiveness of the drug and or treatment.
It's the medical system too. Medical misogyny is very real. Even non pregnant women? Are refused many treatments all due to the fact they "could" cause infertility. And that's only due to pharmaceuticals not really being the correct dosage for women. Women were only added to clinical trials in the-
Mostly due to the fact that women were held back and out of the workforce completely. Which definitely held back and still holds back that needed research. Especially living in a patriarchal society. Give me a moment, let me find the book I was first recommended for this topic
And at the hospital, our number of staff get cut next year, worsening the already strained ratio, because we still had to pay for the care. (At least at a non-profit hospital, which is what I know)
Either ppl are scared of the looming administration, or part of the 74mil are feeling emboldened, or maybe it's just Earthlings are going mad day by day. No one seems to have that comradery or selfless service anymore.
Sadly, American women voted for this last month. I've been voting for women's reproductive rights for 45 years, but I'm all out of fucks to give about them now. You can't help people who won't bother to help themselves.
The Christo fascists who are one giant step closer to controlling our Government intend to chip away at all rights and to control women completely. They are weak pathetic people who do not believe in freedom or Democracy. They are the American Taliban and must be stopped.

I think it's time the minute women are told to do this facing a life threatening crisis, they should call a lawyer and get them there asap to force these doctors to treat them. First do no harm. Even if it needs a lawyer to force it upon them.
CALL Whitehouse comment line NOW AND DEMAND PRESIDENT BIDEN INSTRUCT NATIONAL ARCHIVIST 2 PUBLISH& CERTIFY ERA IN CONSTITUTION AS OUR 28TH AMENDMENT ASAP! that is ALL he has 2 DO.TRUMP BLOCKED IT HIS LAST TERM. THIS IS OUR LAST CHANCE 202 456 1111 Tues thru Thurs 11a-3p. https://www.bidenpublishtheera.org
This isn't that uncommon. Doctors in emergency rooms can only handle what they can handle and that as you know is why triage is performed. Unless they somehow get more doctors to suddenly appear, they attack issues by the worst first. Always. In every hospital in the nation.
I have heard of this. In emergency rooms they don’t treat you until or unless it’s an emergency. If you can live until the next week or tomorrow they recommend to go to the PCP first.
And yet, all too many people voted for the new Repugnant-can way. Its sad, but we deserve this. As a country, we aren't mature enough to appreciate the nice things we had. Or at least, not enough of us appreciated it. So now we are all gonna suffer, it seems.
Just remember Bobbitts penis reattached no phone calls no waiting to see if he grows a new one, boom surgery!! Yes it was years ago but it would be exactly like that today same scenario same results
Something like this happened to me once (the ER sent me home, saying "you're just trying to get out of a midterm!", which was offensive because I had a fever and also it was FINALS week), but it's rare and doesn't happen to men nearly as much.
And Texas asshats found a way around that Federal mandate, specifically to deny care for pregnant women. Imagine the good they could do if they put that much ingenuity towards helping people.
Paxton and Abbott should really reflect on their choices.
There are a lot of bullets in Texas.
You can’t be serious? I was forced to live with an excruciating double hernia for ten years while having to work labor. It wasn’t until I was hit by a car that I was helped. And even then the insurance firm denied me care until I…
The thread said nothing of the sort explicitly and was positing a situation where men are refused medical care and I was replying that I was refused medical care for a life threatening condition.
where men are refused medical care DUE TO A LAW threatening doctors should they provide care before the patient is assessed to be sufficiently near death.
…lawyered up fought and won. My intestines were visibly falling out of my abdomen into my scrotum, and still they denied.
I came .this. Close to immolating myself on the White House lawn, but that place is already on fire.
This would have to be a man. Plenty of women get sent home. Women with failed or failing pregnancies. The medical professionals in some states fear they’ll go to jail.
Very true and a very American problem - I cannot for the life of me understand why you stick it - There is not a single state in the US that could not afford a better healthcare system than say Denmark or a cheaper one ❤️

Bad medical care happens everywhere to all demographics. Not saying women don’t catch a higher percentage though.
We actively discourage people from becoming Doctors in the US with high education bills, high insurance bills, HMOs and insurance companies riding them.
Profiteering during a natural disaster is against the law. Why is it okay when it only affects one person. Healthcare here is “How much would you pay to live?”
i was friends with that person unbeknownst the her and they had to go to a different ER.

Back in '87 was illegal to buy condoms here! 😱
But then you have this sickening lot, I can't decide which is worse, maybe 9000 children:

Do you have the resources to pursue treatment out of the US? I hate to suggest this because I shouldn’t have to. But, I have met people in India from Arab countries who were there for chemo.
Medical malpractice.
go find more and then MAYBE I’ll provide you with some more specific examples. until then, I’m going to assume you want me to do work for nothing.

I honestly don’t know…
A Trumper neighbor was joking a few years back about rounding up libs & joked it was going to be easy because we were unarmed.
When i corrected him, he actually went into a mild fluster panic & genuinely looked confused
They'll shift Canada's system closer to USA's if they can.
I used to think that was conspiracy-adjacent, and I don't think it's a literal shadowy cabal, but rather the unconscious aims of all the rich.
Vulture capitalists have their eye on all socialized medicine systems. They've run ours into ground and they need new population sets to suck dry.
Pay attention to those. That's how it starts, bad actors making little comments to erode trust in the system so they'll want change. Any change (that's how we got here in the US)

These are the days when West Virginia was Blue!
“I have never heard of a man facing a life-threatening emergency and being told to go back to the waiting room until he gets closer to death before they will treat him. They don’t call lawyers to ask if they can treat him. They don’t call lawmakers.
They just treat him…”

Among the many human rights issues that I follow and for which I advocate, this hasn't been on my radar... this doesn't surprise me with news these days.
I simply didn't make a connection with this graphic, having not heard news of situations for which it relates. Not surprising, as biased as the news is..

I've voted, emailed (senators), attended rallies and donated for the health rights of women for decades.

That perspective also gives me more empathy for Rump supporters. Many of them don't actually know what they voted for. I've seen those news headline comparisons between Dem and Rep demographics. It's frightening how different they are!
It would be similar to asking who Trump is and why don’t many people like him.
Ignorance is no excuse here.
You don't help a cause or group of people by making others resent them.
I've been voting, emailing (senators), rallying, and donating in support of women's healthcare rights (and other rights) since the late 90s.
Human rights and environmental issues are my focus, to the best of my ability. And only compassionate dialogue will gain more supporters for the causes.
Love that for him, honestly.

Women are chattel. At least that is what MAGA thinks.
Nope. Nothing. 🙄
Prudishness toward body parts and sexual terminology “so to speak” is patriarchal conditioning we need to ditch immediately.
Bot? You’re ridiculous.
They are the murderers!
this is about abortion. you've never had a dead fetus turning toxic inside you, with no one willing to remove it to save your life.
I had a miscarriage of a much wanted pregnancy at 16 weeks. Abortion was legal. Had it not been, I probably would not be typing this today.
For fun, get an itemized bill of a basic year physical. In my case, this is a 20 minute weight/BP check, breathe, conversation w/doctor. Insurance billed nearly $400.
Can't imagine an ER bill.
I hear you about moving. I made a plan to move my dad to Canada when he was in his 90s and by the time everything was finalized he was needing constant care, so it didn't work out.
Best wishes!
$4000, $2000 after insurance
Thank you both.

this isn't about men. it's about abortion.
When I have insurance they roll out the red carpet.
this is about abortion.
We treat, then we get hit with plethora of paperwork that our hospital board has to waste time rationalizing and fighting insurance companies for. Most of the time we just pay them money to settle because it’s more trouble than it’s worth. System is broken.
That happens too often.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
Your family will never be the same.
Someday maybe I will need to write about it.
I don’t know why you were not told this by your attorney.

Was there legislation in place that affected his care, or lack of?
Because if you're pregnant, they'll consult lawyers before they callously tell you to leave.
Thrilled for you, for your access to the NHS! ✌️

Surreal, dangerous times.
And he has a heart attack because he just lost his house and life savings.
See, it’s not the hospital or the doctors . It’s the insurance system that should NEVER apply to health.
Sorry
A big cause of an explosion in expenses:
1. Working class poor can't afford regular doctor visits.
2. Getting extremely expensive care at ER too late
Patched up with ObamaCare
We need Medicare4All...
https://www.salon.com/2012/07/05/reagans_healthcare_mandate/
Democrats and Republicans have been working hard for decades to undermine this program.
Neo-liberalism is eating away at the program like a cancer.
But, I still haven't met anyone who would prefer to have ObamaCare than Medicare.
Interesting. Most people pay waaaay too much under ObamaCare.
Medicaid isn't bad, but one has to be dirt poor to get that.
And corruption is what greases the wheels in DC.
They design programs to steal our wealth and hand it to a few: not to help the 99%
Women are not part of the study for new medication because they provide too many variables.
Very eye opening.
😁
*The only concern of conservatives.
That's not misogyny:
https://orwh.od.nih.gov/toolkit/recruitment/history
How do you know it's misogyny?
And if it is, it's much more impactful to expose it with evidence to effect change.
I'm against misogyny and misandry, racism, etc, everyone is equal!
