If you feel the need to bash rural people, I’m gonna ask how many rural doors you knocked. I’m gonna ask how many calls you made to rural people. I’m going to ask how many rural democratic candidates you supported. Because if you’re out here running your mouth, I assume you did the work like I did.

We are better than that. Sometimes folks need a reminder.
areas. The problem is neither community sees it because they don’t “look” the same.
Formally lived in several of the biggest cities in the US and in the smallest red communities as well. Much much much different and until they recognize that - red shall remain red. There is no bringing back into fold without understanding us
The raw number of suburban Rs - car dealership owners, insurance salesmen, mega-church people, elder care complex residents - outnumber the raw number of rural by quite a bit.
Unfortunately, farmers are about to find out how much MAGA and Nazilon don't give a shit about them.
To the contrary, ever notice that when corporate...
In other words, don't act like we don't know.
But there are aspects of how we sort ourselves regionally & otherwise in civic society
The problem in rural 🇺🇸 is how we fail to provide necessary resources for those communities & how we isolate them in many ways
🇺🇸 can’t afford it. Social isolation & rural/urban/divides into echo chambers is dangerous
These communities s/b interacting w/ each other & not made into enclaves.
I lived in rural Nebraska & Illinois for some time so I can safely vouch
That plays into the social isolation piece which I mentioned
The poor rural red states voted for pain last November and they are gonna get it.
You’re right. Not all MAGA live in rural towns.
People blame undereducated rural maga for being victims of failed education and mental health care systems america refused to fix for generations.
None of this should be surprising.
Yea, that’s true
But we have this electoral college thing, that makes it easier for the R’s to win
Well then, if we’re gonna get rid of Medicaid, SS, etc Let’s start FIRST WITH FARM SUBSIDIES
FAFO… tough medicine
I've lived with these people, grown up with them.
You can talk to them, they'll listen, they'll even believe you, most of the anyways, and then they'll listen to Fox or OAN or Neawmax or whatever and then they believe them.
They're now bright.
But in all seriousness, the…
This has all been a gigantic psy-op with years of practice and preparation.
It's amazing how many people never leave their home state, much less the country.
If you never leave the only place you've ever known, you have no idea what others live or think like.
I just muted your account.
I don't know if you are a MAGA asset or just not very intelligent. But shitting on the people you want to listen to you isn't going to do anything but get you muted. Like I just did.
I was the only person at the meeting that grew up there and the first thing they did upon meeting me was make fun of my accent
Still, I'm trying to change this...
If racism wasn't a deal breaker, you're not a good person
Ms. Crystal is ALSO an incredible activist- I know you BOTH are enraged seeing harms.
Pause and listen. 💕 Hear her. She's giving us marching instructions. Have we reached out? What could we do better?
I live in the middle of nowhere, Ohio -- as a queer & genderqueer person. With my partner. When I hear Dems shitting on rural folks, I get SO angry. Ignoring my existence is a BAD look, Dems!
I dont get why we treat this “not all rurals” stuff any differently from guys saying “not all men”.
National Dem candidates have written us off -- which is one big reason I no longer call myself a "Dem."
It's the truth. 🤷♀️

I’m sorry your parents can’t love their grandchild unconditionally. I always tell ppl who say they’ll pray for me to save their prayers for themselves-they need it more.
If they're supporting republicans, they're lost
As long as people stay focused on hating their neighbors, the powerful can do whatever they want.
And I know you weren’t speaking specifically to me. But I do want to point out that knocking on doors may not be the only way that people come to know what rural people are really like in a given area.
I say this as someone who appreciates what you’re doing immensely but I’m not going to sugarcoat the outright hatred towards the gay community I witnessed there.
How homogenized they can be.
How hateful they can be of those they see as the “other”
But yes, I was born in small-city Midwest, and subsequently lived in places as small as a few hundred before adulthood. And whenever I would return to visit family? There were good times and good people, but I wouldn't want to be Black or out.
How’d that turn out for you?
you're the one for this job

I have pretty much given up hope about getting people to listen to anything that goes against the right-wing propaganda they consume daily.
This area was leaning Democrat 40 years ago. That has completely changed.
But I did try to educate my many relatives in those areas.
They simply do not want to listen to reality. They think I have the "woke mind" virus.
You can lead a horse to water... 🤷🏻♀️
I know the small minds that reside there.
It's no longer "political differences" - they have gone on a full-blown, mentally ill PARANOIA BINGE.
I'm free to bash them all I like.
And then they go to church on Sunday.
Sweet Holy Mother Of Moses in the Morning. 🤣
My condolences. 😬
So don't try to lecture me about rural places and businesses.
It is quite literally unsafe for me to do so out here in Rural MO.
These people are openly bigoted towards me and my trans siblings
I don't have the luxury of speaking up for myself. They're too bought in to the rhetoric that I am a danger.
I wish I could afford to take my family and flee quite frankly, because it feels that unsafe and our state's government is making it worse
The fact that I have so far remained physically unharmed has felt like a miracle.
I shouldn't have to debate my own existence with people.
Nope, it’s all about catering to an area that already has a massively oversized influence compared to its population.
Also many “city people” grew up in rural areas.
I think it counts more as it’s ongoing, not just driving in to proselytize on occasion. There are democrats among us & we talk starting with, what do you think about X and fill in facts along the way. Just thinking is a start
What this election cycle has taught me, is it’s not good strategy to try and change people’s minds, when they’ve already abandoned their tether to truth.
Knock doors and make calls, please. But, convincing the lost is a waste of time.
BUT, these are communities that relied on programs Ds created and support (that Rs have always fought against) and rural folk should have known that
Dems need to be knocking on rural doors, setting up community mtgs in tiny towns, making clear which party actually does things that benefit farmers & rural Americans. We aren't the ones closing regional hospitals, cancelling contracts supporting small farms, halting environmental protection.
And not everyone has the personal resources to do what you are rudely demanding.
Good luck with that.
Let’s embrace and kindly educate.
I’m gonna bash rural people ceaselessly and at my leisure.
Most hateful, ignorant, xenophobic, racist, bigoted people I’ve ever known live in WV. Pure white trash scumbags.
Every county in WV voted for 🍊🤡 3x. Fuck em all.

Thanks, but I'm trying to cut back on booze and hopelessness.
Let’s put it this way: Nobody beats the shit out of you for being “different” in a city. Haircut, clothes, skin color—anything “other” was an excuse to terrorize people. And it was understood and encouraged—if not codified.
Lots of MAGA hats before, now just one for a die-hard.
Several people have said, “I wasn’t voting for -this-.” Regrets are showing, but is it too late?
Breathe!
The villains here are the GOP. They support a bunch of traitors in power who are criming this very minute.
Know lots of other rurals.
Not every rural is an ignorant trump loving racist.
In fact, just like the rest of the nation, it's about 1/3. Just like the 'city folk'.
This is a very poor region. I'm desperately struggling with Liberal's Lament, but honestly, I don't want to have anything to do with my neighbors.

Sure, that would crush rural red counties, but we can’t support those welfare cowboys any longer.
