Events are overtaking us and it will all happen while we wring our hands over Americans chatting with Chinese people on social media.

I'm glad I chose not to use TikTok. People want to justify using a Chinese social media. It's not a better option.
This means they can all be nefarious, but Musk and Zuck can face a congressional hearing or a courtroom. You are never going to see a member of the Chinese government in an American courtroom.

You aren't going to find an American in the dock in Russia or China, likewise, a Chinese or Russian businessperson in the dock in the US. That's the difference. They can be sanctioned, but not arrested.
You can remove Chinese malware, as the FBI did 2 days ago.
But no member of the Chinese government is going to appear in a US court, get sent to jail, or be forced to turn over documents. Big difference.

I haven’t heard a convincing explanation of the risk we’re exposed to by China having individual data. Do we think people have military secrets on their phones? What are you suggesting?
From the perspective of the average person, no one is doing anything for us.
There is reason to find fault with the US gov't, but destroying the function isn't going to help. Trump will not always be in office, Congress could change hands in 2 years.
