It was introduced when women procured abortion by irritating their uterus with an injection of soap. Or by breaking their waters with a needle or hook.
The survivors were rarely given more than a slap on the wrist.
Women reliably find out they’re pregnant in the first trimester, when the abortion can be carried out safely and quickly thanks to the miracle of modern drugs.
Abortion no longer threatens the lives of women.
The Abortion Act 1967 predates ultrasound scanning. It predates the internet. It predates misoprostol. It predates mifepristone.
Abortion must be decriminalised
In fact if they want to investigate people involved in infant deaths, try the NHS.
An unknown number of women lost their baby in childbirth and then had the remains disposed of illegally. Records have either been lost or were falsified. The police could investigate that and stop harrassing women.
Well that’s the baddest-ass thing I’ve heard all day.
