Jackie wrote *extensively* in his autobiography about the racism he experienced while serving in the Army. He fought like hell against his white colleagues and superiors and did not mince words.

Every year I beg people to read Jackie's book or Rickey & Robinson (Roger Kahn) because his legacy has been so whitewashed into some "aw shucks I just want to play baseball" shit. Jack was a hardass who was incredibly vocal about racism until he had to downplay his feelings to integrate baseball.
I have to admit it's funny to me that the URL on the Jackie Robinson blog called him a DEI sports hero. Branch Rickey, an astute executive, realized the Negro Leagues were an untapped market for cheap, productive players. Give me a break. Goodnight!
I was watching the new LE doc on Vietnam on Apple+, and it was mentioned that the largest group of men there were black, poor, and from the South. There were many xenophobic white men, so they created black corps and battalions.
Wish Lincoln Project or some other could cut an ad about Trump/Musk “erasing” cultural/heroic figures such as the Code Talkers, black men honored in the military, and try to get the ad out in red states and districts to help more people understand this despicable treatment of non-white Americans.
