When my kids were little (1990s) I used to make them “bunny salad” based on that one. They LOVED it but it turned my stomach 😀
Pear half, blob of cottage cheese tail, cheery nose, almond ears.
Fresh pear slices w/ cream cheese & a raspberry garnish, maybe.
I could even see pear halves w/ sharp cheddar cheese (although that photo makes the grated cheese look awful), or brie, or gouda.
Hmm-mm.
Fresh pear slices w/ brie - my local grocery store sells a pre-made salad like this & it's good.
I’m super fascinated that they had to include a note about how your canned pear halves may be different sizes. I mean, God forbid we ruin the aesthetics of this dish.
It wasn't even mayo it was salad dressing! And I guess cottage cheese wasn't manly because dad had the salad dressing. (And I like the pear/cottage cheese combo even now.)
Look, my dad was a Methodist minister in the US South, and this would have been a step too far for even the church potlucks (and I’ve seen some jello based atrocities). Who thought this was a good idea to bring back?

I have a friend who reposts old recipes that are mockable, gross, and often both, and I thought you were doing the same.
NOPE.
🫣
also - gross
Don't get me wrong, mayo (Hellmanns is my preference) has its place, but yeah... people really did serve & eat things like this atrocity.
