Realistically, capitalism is a collection of pyramid schemes which are built-in with exploitation (because they're pyramid schemes) so it is no suprise that these become magnified over the course of time.
That's why the 'affluent' stays affluent. By convincing the masses that there MUST be a class system, where the rich need their wealth, to trickle it down to the poor. Does it ever happen that way? NO!! The only truth to 'trickle down' is the word 'TRICK', hidden within this phrase
i think the reason trickle down economics convinced people is that it's just such a straightforward and simple analogy that sounds logical... until you figure out that economies are not wine glasses stacked on top of each other.
Necon Neoliberals politics force not for profit industry to for profit. And don't collect revenue as prices rise for local free market and citizens. Classic Conserviberals had not for profit industry
haha notice offscreen offshore accounts are filling with wine too :-D
if you're spilling wine to the level below you're not trying hard enough :-P waste not want not!
Absolutely. Is anybody able to cite a evidence-based example of this nonsense ever happening. I very much doubt it. I personally know a number of very wealthy individuals and not one of them ever exercises this drivel, they just accumulate more for themselves.
I would add a frame of an even larger glass that has crushed all of the other glasses under its weight sitting alone, caring not about the chaos that surrounds it.
Why would anyone agree to be at the bottom, waiting for the germs on the outside of all the glasses that have been handled by the who knows who, after they did who knows what, to get flushed down into their glass? Madness!!!
This "could" work in an idealistic industrial era economy. However tech giants have much bigger profit margin with much less workforce demand. That being said it will not trickle down by new jobs and other expenses.
Yes. The receptacle for holding money has no size limit for our oligarchs. Inconvenient holes like taxes on 𝘂𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 need to be much larger. Making money just by letting it sit doing nothing is the opposite of trickle down.
Actually the top glass just gets bigger and bigger and it never overflows down to us!!
The system was designed to do just that, and so many are fooled by promises of the wealthy that they care about us as they buy another $100 million dollar yacht.
99.99% of the time it just makes the rich richer, it never trickles down.
There probably like 1 or 2 rich people that do trickle their money down, but almost all of them just hoard it.
You're better off taxing the rich so everyone can have the income to survive. Survival isn't selfish... Greed is...
Is it dumb to say trickle up economics sounds way better? Like surely if you give the working class more money they’ll spend it and still make rich ppl richer?
Perhaps 'vacuum up'?
Trouble is to give the working class more money most of it needs to be not given to the rich first. So you need to convince them that getting it later is just as good. But that doesn't satisfy the greedy.
'Trickle up' certainly seems a more apt description than 'trickle down'. Only it seems to me that it gives too much of an impression of it being something done willingly.
Every time I see someone talk about “growing the pie,” i picture that Family Guy cut away scene with John Goodman and his family at Thanksgiving dinner
What if it's actually millions of glasses and we're all the way at the bottom? I feel like theres too many middle men and consultants who nickel-dime things before they even get back to us.
Greed is apparent but I think both are happening in a way that screws us, Such as get rich quick landlords.
Well the idea is that the first glass overflows only there is never enough to fulfill their greed. Trickle down is not a real economic basis for a society.
To help explain HOW bottom-up economics works (and HOW trickle-down does not), check out this 10-minute video: https://www.votereducationproject.com/hbuew Democrats need to know this stuff so we can explain it to others!
There is no such thing as “trickle down economics” the cost of running a business is not a benefit to society when the aim of the business is to take the wealth from the many (poorer) to give the few (richest) in society.
most people don't vote based on policy so they don't even consider it. Also, conservatives have traditionally been the party of less regulations, taxes etc which is good for the stock market. So if you are invested you have more money, but if you are too poor to even invest you get screwed more.
Because those politicians are good at stoking people’s bigotries and corporate media spread lies without any actual pushback. Many people will vote for policies that hurt them as long as it hurts immigrants/brown people/women/trans more.
This. But realistically, it takes an ever-larger collection of smaller glasses to sustain the system. And, eventually, it fails and you just end up with a pile of broken glass and a lot of spilled wine.
Don't worry, I'm told Orange Jesus and his team of billionaires are gonna fix it. And the guy that told me that also told me that the covid vaccines were gonna kill all the superior Anglo-Saxons within months so I'm pretty sure he knows what he's talking about
False, wine has to come from somewhere, it comes from underneath... Objects are subject to gravity and things go down but money is subject to greed, it trickles up toward the top. However, it means less much less for those underneath but... "they deserve it"
They also totally ignore the fact that some of the glasses were smaller than the others—or just not even on the stack in the first place—due to generations of inequity and trauma
You forgot the stream of urine as the new bigger glass was places on top and the urine filled the rest of the glasses. The key difference in real wealth and fiat currency.

But when they get cut no one cares all that much but our public spending goes down and our quality of life worsens.
😭

Bet.
Reagan, Mulroney (and Harper) and Thatcher.
All crooks!!!
Reagan's model suggested pouring water into the ocean would somehow fill rivers and streams.
The system was designed to do just that, and so many are fooled by promises of the wealthy that they care about us as they buy another $100 million dollar yacht.
Anything that sheds light on them is socialism!!

Is better to be on 2nd story.
How are we still talking about it?
Trouble is to give the working class more money most of it needs to be not given to the rich first. So you need to convince them that getting it later is just as good. But that doesn't satisfy the greedy.

If you give money to the bottom 30% it will immediately get spent on stuff and make its way up to the people who make money on stuff.
Can someone please answer this lol
That way it works as intended.
