I've long held the view that the Russian military over time will be be anchored more on light units in technicals because they'll struggle to ever rebuild the amount of armoured units they had before getting mashed in Ukraine.

But the US doing this out of choice is a whole other level of stupid.

There is likely a role for this type of unit in less than peer to peer situations, but I wouldn't set up anything more than a Brigade like this. MAYBE as an option for Air Assault and Airborne units to give them some mobility once on the ground but as the main force? No fucking way.

To be fair, part of the reason the Russian army suffered those losses was gross incompetence AND a lack of combined arms & EW defense.
The areas where more "competent" units kept ComArms within an EW safety bubble, losses were lower.

The types of munitions out there make almost all APCs obsolete in a vacuum.
Mobility as defense has a lot of merit, but it must be balanced with a combined arms mentality and cyber/ew defensive platforms.
