Our Bluegrass fox population is slowly losing out to the growing population of eastern coyotes (coyote x wolf hybrids), so its always a treat to see them. Here they are loafing in the front yard of a horse farm. Do you see foxes where you live?

Last year, when I still worked the late, late shift, I startled a mother fox carrying a squirrel. She dropped it and skedaddled, which I felt very bad about. I wish I saw foxes more often, but since I live on a very busy road, it's probably best I don't.
There’s a vixen who pups near my childhood backyard every year and I see her most trips back in warm weather. Lots of deer, too many bear, an occasional skunk or possum.
Here in SF I live near the coyotes in the recent NYT article.
Our Iroquois Hunt Club has largely switched from foxes to coyotes because of the population changes. They do not hunt down the coyotes but use their dogs to harrass them. This is a benefit to the farm owners as it makes the coyotes less bold, and they stay away from the livestock.
I'm sorry to say, I've never seen any kind of fox in the wild.
I was really surprised when I first heard their vocalization on YouTube videos, not what I expected.
I just learned that this family (mom, dad, and three kits) have been living underneath a neighbor’s garden shed. I’ve had occasional early morning sightings of the father before realizing how close the den was. I’ve heard them. It was a joy to watch the little ones explore together.
Abundant in Minnesota - both in MSP region and out-state with abundant edge habitats. Also, resident population of coyotes in the MSP region seen not uncommonly in the Minnesota and Mississippi River corridors. Gray foxes, too, but I've yet to see one. T-wolves in north third and Target Center.
We did for the past couple of years, as we’re a ten minute walk from a city-spanning ravine. They liked to sun themselves in our yard and our neighbours’. No sign of them yet this year.
There’s been a lot of renovation and construction on our block, so not a soothing place for wild critters anymore. (We’re not big fans of it either, little foxes.)

Both are cool but the foxes are much lovelier to my eye.
