The term “silver lining” refers to the small good part on an otherwise bad thing. I find I often want a term for the opposite, the small bad part on an otherwise good thing.
So far the best thing I’ve come up with is “rose thorn”. Since roses are nice but they do have those thorns.
Wdyt?

But I think an English one is "A fly in the ointment"?
I want an idiom for when something is 95% good and 5% bad, an easy way to refer to the bad thing while acknowledging…
Although that’s a bit different from what I mean. I don’t want to imply that the bad thing spoils the good thing, just that there’s a slight drawback. Like if you start a new dream job and it’s great but the rose thorn is that you don’t get to sleep in anymore.
