I just realized we should have put an empty rum bottle on the rooftop with our awoo friend there. Then if wouldn’t matter if I said the game name too fast and it came out like “Roof Rum Ruin”.

Funny you should ask, we’re holding a playtest fest next Wednesday from 7:00 - 8:30 pm eastern :) this one is focused on character creation (but it uses tarot extensively). I can link you to the signup if you’re interested.

I’m really happy with how Obelisk is turning out mechanically, but we definitely spent months bending tarot to our needs (and bending our needs to tarot).

C part 2. It’s also easier to recognize (and be irritated by) the way so many mobile games and even AAA video games use casino tactics to make money using the same addictive principles.

A. I no longer envy “high rollers”. B. Gambling is, at best, a form of budget-limited entertainment. At worst, well… much worse. C. There’s a lot of game theory to learn from the wide variety of games in a casino. And, you don’t have to lean into the most addictive elements to have fun with concepts
