I can't think of many organisations that are not self-titled.

Funnily enough, this is exactly what I think *should* happen. Lords would be able to take a long term view and the HoL is less likely to be as party political as the Hoc.

Do they write the application with the initial of every word capitalised?

It's an NHS policy - force the patient to be available when it's convenient to the NHS, not the other way round. It's the same with my GP - I am given a nine hour window in which he will call me.

Thanks for telling me the reason - I didn't know that. But it's time it was ended. It makes a mockery of the judicial system.

As a Brit, I find it weird that a president can overrule a court decision just because he wants to. Isn't the USA supposed to separate the powers of the executive and the judiciary?

Worse than their being billionaires is that they are based overseas, usually in tax havens. Any policy that they push for the UK will have zero impact on them.

This took me to a (presumably fake) ad for an anti-virus product. The ad caused my phone to flash alarmingly and it was quite hard to stop.

There is propaganda and disinformation on both sides.

Sounds like wishful thinking to me. Putin is making progress in the war. He has North Korean troops who can't complain about anything. And Trump is on his way to the White House.

I'm no expert but I assume Russia will find ways to trade that involve barter. They can trade oil for weapons, for example.

It's only a matter of time before Bluesky fills with bots and offensive commentators.

Fair enough, you've convinced me. It's clearly a strategy that works. You'd better get punching right away. There are a lot of people who need to be punched.

For the sake of argument, let's assume that Nigel Farage is a Nazi and, consequently, I go and punch him. What have I achieved? Has he changed his mind or policies? No. Have his followers changed their minds? No. Has he gained new followers? Quite possibly.

You will find it difficult making peace with people who you punch.

Owned by a multi-billionaire with a major role in the US government, X is hardly likely to be short of money.

X won't die. It will still have right wing influencers and politicians and many stupid influenced people. Few people care what I think so I hope more well known reasonable people also stay. But I stay to learn and possibly prick an occasional conscience or two.

I'm just an ancient hippy. Violence is never the answer.

I accept that it feels more comfortable here on Bluesky but is it not the case that Bluesky will become an echo chamber for the left whilst X will become an echo chamber for the right? I'm still on X so I can hear the other side of the argument and present my side when it might be applicable.

This is very inconsiderate of you. The most convenient location you can find for me and you schedule it when I'm out of the country 😕

I'm here because I prefer the civility. But I'm remaining on X because it's still necessary to do one's best to counter the "anti-woke", right wing nonsense. I'm worried X will become all the right; Bluesky will become all the left; and never the twain shall meet.

That wasn't the BBC's choice. Margaret Thatcher made it illegal to broadcast IRA voices - she wanted to deny them "the oxygen of publicity". News organisations (not just the BBC) circumvented the law by having actors speak interviewees' words.

Interesting pov. Amazon recommended a book. I bought it thinking that Amazon knows exactly what I enjoy. I'm 52% through and I dislike it a lot. It's nothing like my normal reading. Yet I feel obliged to read to the end. Should I stop?

I'm enjoying Bluesky but I miss the bookmark feature. Hopefully it will be added soon.
