Strong nostalgia vibes going on here for me. Not sure what version this is, but Red Hat 5.2 was the first Linux I got successfully working with all my hardware (less the 3Dfx Voodoo) back in the day.

If you find a solution that works, please post about it. I'd like to have something I can recommend to people who don't have a smartphone, but for most all VoIP/chat apps that I've found lately, that seems to be a requirement.

I specifically chose it because it seemed simple and is fully cross platform... iPhone/Android/Linux/Windows/Mac and that way I can carry on lengthy chats from a computer with a full keyboard.

I second Signal. As long as your mom has a smartphone it should work and is fairly easy to use. I use it to talk to my mom. 🙂

I've used Linux on and off since 1997 but have recently switched almost completely to Linux Mint. I recommend it because it maintains the Debian/Ubuntu compatibility while cleaning up a lot of issues I have with Ubuntu and maintaining a traditional desktop layout.

Linux Mint on a 2012 Mac mini was near flawless. Only catch was the initial need to connect it to Ethernet to pull the propriety WiFi driver.

Ours are the same. Doc will climb on you for about 2 minutes to get pets then go off to do cat stuff. Zoe does that with Robin but I am just the spare human to her. She cries if she is left alone in a room... even if I am in the same room with her.

Finally got around to watching it again. I think when we watched it the first time I thought it was a combination drug fueled dream / delusion. I liked a bit on the first watch but liked it better on the second watch.

I've been planning to give Fried Barry a second watch. When I first watched it I didn't realize he was taken over by an alien. The incoherence makes a bit more sense now that I realize it's an alien in a drug addict's body. 🤔
