That sequence of them getting cleaned up and dancing in the village... yeah, that still works for me.

I probably oughta do a serious update/rewrite just to bring this one better into contemporary focus. ROMANCING THE STONE remains one of my favorite movies ever, and it pains me that we've had so few aspirants to its throne.

I've bloviated ad nauseam at my own kids how (IMO) it's a double edged sword. Yes, it's cool that you can always easily talk to friends and immediately find any movie or song or image or piece of info.
On the other, like the man said, "it's the hard that makes it great."

I was one briefly attached to a project based on a niche single issue graphic novel which portrayed 80s-era tech from our modern POV-- it was fun thinking about first gen cell phones, postal computers, etc etc.
We take a lot of miracles for granted.

Once I work out what the damned thing is supposed to be, writing is never a real problem for me. It's designing the thing that's work.

It's not the writing that's the obstacle.

This rule of thumb applies to everyone-- ANYONE -- in your circle. Nobody has an unshakable right to make you miserable.
It's basic. Once you grant yourself the freedom to eliminate the crap... the air suddenly smells sweeter.

Half the time it wants to be a campy schlockfest, and the rest of them time it wants to be just the trailer to a campy schlockfest.
For now it remains a stupid idea I'm not yet ready to fully embrace. "Just friends."

I'd probably pay a monthly subscription if it meant never having to hear/see/be remotely aware of his existence ever again.
