📢📢📢 We have extended the abstract submission for British Society for Proteome Research Annual Meeting 2025 #BSPR2025 until the end of May. So make sure to get those abstracts in!

We also want to take a moment to thank all our amazing sponsors who make this meeting possible. In particular our platinum (Covaris), gold ( @thermofishersci.bsky.social ) , silver ( @somalogic.bsky.social ) and bronze ( @ionopticks.bsky.social ) sponsors.

First seen at HUPO 2024, a method which almost DOUBLES MS1 dynamic range and increases protein IDs by 11% Best bit of all? It's FREE as this is purely a method improvement which should work for any Orbitrap system, no hardware or software changes A similar approach will be called eDR on Excedion

Today is the day! Early bird discount and abstract submission for #BSPR2025 close today, make the most of it while you still can! Abstract submission: forms.gle/p6CDpjSugEtY... Registration:

Ever wondered how #EuropePMC actually works? 🤔 We’ve rounded up the most common questions, like where content comes from, and answered them all in one place. Your top FAQs answered in our latest blog post: bit.ly/3ZgXdqC #PhDSky #AcademicSky #SysReview #LiteratureSearch #Medlib

We had a fantastic time welcoming S3 pupils from Liberton High School yesterday! The students explored the fascinating world of axolotls, zebrafish, and stem cells—key parts of our research—and heard from an inspiring panel about careers in science. Thanks for visiting, Liberton High! 👩‍🔬🧬

Two days left for abstract submission and early bird registration for BSPR2025!

Our next featured speaker at #BSPR2025 is @epetsalaki.bsky.social based at @ebi.embl.org Her talk will focus on data-driven approaches for studying cell signalling by making better use of proteomics and phosphoproteomics datasets. Abstract submission closes this Friday so get your abstracts in!

Great to see this out. A story that spanned continents, cities and budget codes… www.nature.com/articles/s41... Big thanks to all the teams involved! @clausenlab.bsky.social @e3chembio.bsky.social

"Researchers recruited to work in the UK have to fund a £1,035 annual immigration health surcharge, which must be paid in full in advance, as well as up to £1,519 in visa fees. For a family of four, the upfront costs can total almost £30,000."

Here comes the pre- #ASMS2025 preprints showing off possibly one of the soon-to-be announced instruments, the Sciex 8600 ZenoTOF. "enabling intermediate to high sample throughput, we observed a 30–40% increase in identified precursors." Will confirm once the raw files are made publicly available.

Our next featured speaker for #BSPR2025 is coscialab.bsky.social who is based at the @mdc-berlin.bsky.social and his group works on novel spatial proteomics approaches. Fabian will talk about his spatial tissue proteomics pipeline and efforts to combine high-pl3x imaging with MS-based proteomics

A great list of authors on work that will lay the foundation for advances in instrument real time interventions. Examples are all for Thermo, but curious if it could be applied to Waters/Bruker/Sciex one day.

Less than one week to go until the deadline for abstract submission and early bird registration for the British Society for Proteome Research @ukbspr.bsky.social annual conference 2025 in Liverpool! Deadline is Friday May 16! For more details see here: www.bspr.org/annual-meeti...

An alternative to tSNE & UMAP for more accurate data visualization: Tree representations for distortion-free visualization and exploratory analysis of single-cell omics data. The trees are constructed to accurately represent true distances between the objects in the high-dimensional space.

Quick reminder that the abstract submission deadline for BSPR 2025 is on the 16th or May. So get those abstracts submitted!

Our next featured speaker for BSPR2025 is @freddietheodoulou.bsky.social who has her group at Rothamsted Research . She will talk to us about plant proteostasis and how to apply this knowledge directed at crop improvement

Sure NIH Bioart, of course this is a totally generic mass spectrometer 😂

These are truly unprecedented times for science, & I know several community members facing job loses. It would be incredibly helpful for those hiring in proteomics to post to our US HUPO job board so we can help our colleagues find new positions. Please share! us-hupo.org/US-HUPO-Job-...

Attending #ASMS2025 in Baltimore? Interested in quantitative proteomics? Join us Sunday Afternoon, June 1st for our annual Skyline User Group Meeting. We have a fantastic group of speakers. For information and to Register: skyline.ms/project/home... #massspectrometry #proteomics #metabolomics

Cooking up a pipeline that links PRIDE proteomics datasets with matching multiomics data in places like #GEO, #ArrayExpress, or #ENA — all powered by #EuropePMC and @pride-ebi.bsky.social. Curious to see how many hidden multiomics gems we’ve got! 🔍🧬💥

Please apply for this open position for a senior scientist at our faculty. It is the head of the mass spec center and you will be my close colleague! Application Deadline:8.5.2025 jobs.univie.ac.at/job/Senior-S...

i am not sure I am liking the new trend of calling neutrophil populations "senescent". Neutrophils are no longer proliferating, and unlike other senescent cells they are not growing much larger either. So senescent neutrophils are basically aged neutrophils that release inflammatory mediators.

May Institute on Computation and Statistics for Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics is off to a strong start with a discussion of quantitative proteomics with Skyline. I am grateful to the incredible team of instructors @lindsaykpino.com Susan Abbatiello and Brendan MacLean for making this happen

🚨New preprint alert 🚨 www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... Delighted to share our recent study looking at chronic changes to the intestine and intestinal microbiome after stroke

As we get ready for the British Society for Proteome Research annual meeting in Liverpool (July 7-9th), we will start highlighting our amazing speakers. First is @slavov-n.bsky.social who will talk to us about Biological and technological frontiers for single-cell proteomics.

There was some controversy as Paul Nurse was appointed the upcoming president of the royal society. But here he has shown leadership and courage and said a truth that many were scared to say out loud. Musk should consider resigning from the Royal Society.

Nearly 800 NIH grants have been terminated so far, including some focused on HIV and AIDS, trans health, and COVID-19, after researchers were told their work was no longer an agency priority. https://cbsn.ws/3YkDndI

Frequently people attack pre-prints because they're not peer reviewed. But peer review is far from foolproof. If you are of the mind that regardless if its pre-print or published, that its scientific work that should be read/analysed with a healthy dose of skepticism, then we go go a long way

Beyond the 2025 Letters of Support for Skyline: skyline.ms/project/home... As a consultant, it’s easy to recommend an MS vendor that contributes to Skyline. Currently: Agilent, Bruker, Sciex, Shimadzu, Thermo, and Waters Their support ensures that there is a vendor-neutral data analysis option.
