They’re not backing down on claiming their rights- why should they? Why aren’t they understood as setting an example we should all follow in this time of fascism? Our rights are non-negotiable. Why is that not a stance we can all stand on?

I think it’s inspiring that people are saying you’re not going to make me afraid to be different. I think it’s inspiring that people are saying even immigrants have rights. And are claiming their first amendment right to free speech.

CA: Want to direct you to ICE's own photo, docket 39-1, and if this is not domestic law enforcement by military, I don't know what is.
Judge: I will have an order out *very* soon. Hopeful that I can get it out today.

Yeah, but not if the property is owned by Black people. So not really even that

The core heart of the Republican Party is the idea the destruction of Black and Latine political power and the belief that Democracy is only for white people

I’m so upset, I expect them to throw me to the floor if I interrupt Noem
But he’s my SENATOR
My SENATOR and that’s hitting something in me

When colleagues in news media defer to the false pretexts these people give them, they are doing the dirty work of laundering the efforts of this administration to institute white supremacy
The most consistent and disciplined aspect of this regime has been its targeting of people who are not white.

Oh. Just like they liberated Wilmington, NC from "Negro rule" in 1898? With a coup?

I know like 50 orgs that got hit with something like this this week.
Given how the administration is acting I wouldn’t be surprised if an LLM picked the targets and there was no actual underlying evidence

She went above and beyond to help this case, and it's pretty clear that's the culture of the office.
TL;DR - call out what just happened, fellow Californians. Protest. Be loud.

Also, I'll just say anecdotally: I'm pretty cynical about politicians. But I know Padilla's team and they're true public servants.
I recently pinged one of them about an ICE case, and the staffer called me back while she was OOO on vacation, and made sure I had everything I needed.

I don't particularly like Padilla, but I am struck by how viscerally I detest these goons laying hands on MY REPRESENTATIVE

Here's another angle from Fox News reporter Bill Melugin of Sen. Alex Padilla getting roughed up by law enforcement after he tries to question Kristi Noem at her presser:
“I’m Senator Alex Padilla. I have questions for the secretary. Because the fact of the matter is, a half dozen... Hands off!”

Why do this
Ballot will only look beyond a choice if that choice is eliminated
Is Coumo or Mamdani are the final 2 then whoever you rank behind them will never be checked
But the votes ahead will get counted and show how much early round support that candidate had
comment in response to

Polling shows that it will be either Coumo or Mamdani.
Would suggest you pick 1 of those 2 to rank
With your other 4 rankings, if you want to show support rank up to 4 people ahead of whichever of Mamdani or Coumo you wanted to show support for

Sauron's war has not just been on the fields with swords and axes but in the heads of the leaders with fear and despair. Sauron wishes to appear inevitable, which is why he has worked so hard to convince Denethor and Théoden that they have already lost.

DENETHOR: I just want things to be the way they've always been!
GANDALF: Yeah...uh...that's not really how time works.

DENETHOR: You think I don't know your schemes?!? This halfling spy! And you're going to replace me with a ranger from the North!
GANDALF: Okay, that last one is true. But be chill, dawg. Things are not as bad as they seem.
DENETHOR: True. (dramatically reveals a palantir)They're worse!
