Specifically, IF this had been a cis heterosexual couple and a husband had been in the women's room with his wife, I think the guard would have had a good laugh and NOT kicked them out

Watching a few hundred successfully frustrate ICE this weekend was //amazing// Many people are meeting the moment, only question is how to muse sure I do to

As long as the investors have money and there’s no place better to put it, the market can stay hot. If Unis start liquidating their endowments or joblessness hits bad enough that people have to cash out their 401(k) etc that could cause a crash.

With a callout to @adrianna.bsky.social’s “paperwork requirements” bc yes, yep.

Okay: We’re using “work-reporting rules” and “proof-of-work rules” if we need an alt, both seem to be in circulation. (And “job-loss penalty” when we talk about that.) Tx for messages and replies!

Reminds me of Less Wrong circa 2013

If you study the successful rebellions and resistance and civil rights movements of the past, you will note that “people who spend their time publicly bumming out everyone around them by emphasizing how totally fucked everything is” do not play a central role, or indeed, any role at all

But why? And we’re saying “capitulated” but that’s not true CEO’s, college boards, VC’s - these groups turned against Biden before Trump won That’s not capitulation, it’s an alliance

It’s such a different energy vs 2017 and I don’t know if it’s that the capitalist class all got radicalized or like 8 years of Obama had built up certain habits and those habits are gone or like non-zero interest rates have them all stressing The wind changed and I don’t get it

Extending to white liberals the perspective they always had regarding their Black fellow citizens

Yeah, my tangential experience is that the badly behaving cis gays are just avoiding anyone who is fat / doesn’t match a specific aesthetic Focusing on narrow definitions of desirability vs narrow definitions of validity

But there’s this assumed trade-off to the point that eg promoting the equality act is seen as opposed kitchen table issues And pursuing anti-trans discrimination is seen as supporting kitchen table issues, even more so than actually supporting minimum wage hike or rent control

Reminds me how SF Dyke March is the only place I have actually seen people holding anti-trans signs Something about Pride just gets bigots VERY loud and excited

A lot of Pride spaces — especially small town Pride parades — are very bi inclusive! There's more biphobia (or at least more visible biphobia) on the internet than on the streets. But the biphobes get VERY loud every Pride. Nothing new about it.

How different is “Epstein files” from “pizzagate” at this point?

I don’t think he has an office anywhere (I visited Padilla’s SF office and asked about if they knew about any Schiff offices too)

Yeah, I can see how being in CA is biasing which politicians I’m noticing and giving weight to (Especially since Newsom has responded much better than I expected)

It’s not as thought prison and police abolitionists didn’t exist in 2014. They just didn’t gain a lot of traction, because a critical mass of people who were mad about police brutality thought reform was possible in 2014.

Wait, like who? I’m seeing everyone from LAPD, to Mayor Bass, to Governor Newsom, to Kamala Harris saying “JFC get the guard out of here and keep your hands off California” Like Newsom is going around saying “arrest me if you want, but let immigrants in our communities live their lives”

The polite language covered up a lot of violence and hate But I did like it when a certain level of hateful rhetoric was considered bad for your career
