We somewhat undervalue compilers because of the quirks of the distributions of these stats... There's also the fact that per90 stats which look at averages (mean) can be sensitive to purple patches iicnn ways that cumulative stats (over long timeframes) aren't.

Because actuaries and insurers have to put their money where their mouths are and if we've learned anything in the past few years, it's that these people don't like spending money, let alone setting it on fire (in this case, literally)

We saw this with all the talk about moving to Florida and Texas.... The ones with good lawyers and accountants game the system to avoid taxes but otherwise spend tons of time living in NYC

Every time it has come up as a massive furor that everybody is supposed to care about, I find myself asking (what should be) the obvious question... "Why do it matter so much to you if they have access to the same quality of healthcare that you do?" There's *never* a good answer
