this is not news to anyone who has been online in the last 20 years

#NowPlaying A gorgeous LP, like a semi-acoustic Forever Changes. Obviously I’d prefer the mono version but £££ and the stereo separation on this is fine given how my speakers are set up.

Solved!

Hammer House of Mystery & Suspense: In Possession

Trying to recall a late 70s/80s TV movie: young couple move into an apartment and are haunted by glimpses of an old couple and the reoccurring image of the woman drowned in the bath. They sell the apartment and then see the new inhabitants! It wasn't a haunting but a premonition! Any ideas?

I mean... youtu.be/8hs6iXpInTA?...

Leo Kotke has one of those "all my favourite singers couldn't sing" voices that I love so much.

you don't see husbands realizing they forgot their anniversary and searching for a gift and seeing the necklace their wife wanted in a window for $50 and pulling out an empty wallet and moths flying out and then seeing a poster that says "BOXING MATCH FIRST PRIZE $50" and saying "hmmm" much anymore

Thought this was an op-ed

This is on @talkingpicturestv.bsky.social tomorrow and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s our Battle of Algiers

#OneAlbumADay; these previously-unreleased 1967 recordings were made by a Beatles-obsessed St. Louis, MO-based band at EMI's Abbey Road Studios; personal problems tore the band apart, so the album (engineered by Geoff Emerick, Alan Parsons, others) was shelved until RPM put it out on CD in 2003.

Back when I first found Lou Johnson's 1971 LP, With You in Mind, I remember being somewhat underwhelmed: too country, too gospel at a time when I was naively only seeking the groove. Well, HT @petepaphides.bsky.social I'm listening to it again and what a joy it is. www.patreon.com/posts/on-all...

Oooh, you mean it's OK to leave, realise it's a mistake, then rejoin? 😉

Already impatient for a second season of my new favourite crime show Dept Q. I’ll overlook some wobbly pacing, that mullet dude’s acting, and one particular incident when Forensics must have just not turned up to the crime scene. Like Slow Horses, just hanging with the team is most of the fun.

The Sonics tour bus, nicknamed The Turd due to its distinctive brown colour

Hahahah…wait.

Out with the lads and playing that perennial British pub game, ‘Curiosities Of Puritan Nomenclature’. I won the first two rounds with Humanity Mayo and Magnify Beard but was roundly trounced when Bezzo played his ace: If-Christ-had-not-died-for-thee-thou-hadst-been-damned Barebone. My round.

“What’s the big deal, I’m making drugs for lemurs!” Thanks to the Criminal podcast, I’m now reading about John Buettner-Janusch, an American physical anthropologist and lemur expert who made LSD and Quaaludes in his Harvard lab and tried to kill his judge with poisoned Valentine's Day chocolates.

When I showed @mariephillips.bsky.social the hideous trailer of The Life Of Chuck her first utterance was "The Life Of Upchuck". After reading the reviews I think she has summed it up.
