Have you considered criticizing Trump’s thugs firing on protesters rather than protesters? Have you considered rejecting the premise that Trump will only do something unjustifiable if the protesters give him cause?

They’re marching into an American city based on the president’s desire to suppress protest, armed with assault weapons against the will of their normal commander-in-chief. They strapped on their jackboots, the argument that they haven’t yet stepped on necks is less than compelling.

The real trick will be when they realize there’s absolutely a way they can be targeting the bad guys right now and they don’t have to go far.

I was prepared to be shocked that any decent person would pick now to write about how we should have a parade for a fascist on his birthday. Then I checked her bio. AEI ghoul gonna AEI ghoul.

If you’re asking “where are the conservatives of conscience” right now, you need to check your house for carbon monoxide. The conservatives of conscience only ever existed in your head.

I have, and haven’t met anyone I thought would be willing to open fire on American civilians. I also haven’t met anyone who served in the guard or had been active duty who I thought would be willing to bayonet students in New Mexico or run Abu Ghraib or any other atrocity…

When even the cops forced into a position of “what the fuck are you doing? We fuck up protesters all the time but you can’t do a Kent goddamned State” something has gone very wrong.

The flashpoint of the Russian revolution was a military unit which refused to fire on protesters. Whether our national guard (or military if it comes to it) will prioritize what is right over what they are ordered to do hasn’t been tested like this, and it *should* be a long shot.

And if you need some bigger reason beyond just keeping this person safe, consider that symbols are powerful for people in a protest movement to rally behind. The winking Cossack, the girl in the blue bra, the first brick at stonewall.

I want to make a joke about how he’s the inverse of a TERF but… I don’t think it’d be a joke? Not even just in the simple way of “trans inclusionary definitely not feminist” but it weirdly dances with some of the finer details of how Jeffries and Raymond arrived at transphobia.

To be fair, lying to the court hasn't seemed to be a problem for the Trump/Bondi DOJ thus far.

"People are criticizing me for downplaying and burying in the middle of the article how this dude posted a screenshot of child pornography, better make a joke about how many people are commenting" Goddamn dude.

In case you needed a weird Chuck Schumer aficionado managing to do a stolen valor to credit an old white dude with the accomplishments of a younger black woman.

Which of those things democrats are doing to “kill it” require voting for Trump’s nominees? Which of those are made less effective by actually filibustering night and day rather than the “couple of all-nighters” that have actually happened?

Two questions 1. Has Democrats helping Trump nominees caused "guys like that to work with us"? 2. Why was the filibuster possible for the Vought nomination but not any other nomination? Or, to put it another way, why is "when possible" not "every nomination"?

I'll have to pass on your generous offer to give you proof of my citizenship in exchange for the privilege of your Leave Schumer Alone rants. Thanks though!

How often? How many examples do you have? Here’s five of democrats helping a Trump nominee in just the last 45 days. Dale Marks, 19 Democratic votes Allison Hooker, 6 Katharine MacGregor, 4 Troy Meink, 21 Tilman Fertitta, 30 In what world should 30 democrats vote for *any* Trump nominee?

Fuck it, I’ll take this seriously. The Democrats supposedly stopped voting to help confirm Trump nominees on February 6th. Let’s count how many times they’ve done it since. And we’ll play with a handicap, it only counts if at least four Democrats did it. 57 votes. 41 times. After they “stopped”

What’s disheartening is that even if (as seems likely from the refusal to name suspects and apparent lack of body cam footage) this was a trigger-happy cop killing someone, they’ll still charge the person who didn’t kill anyone with felony murder, and give the actual shooter a pension.

Wild how the same dudes who rename themselves “Augustus Sol Invictus” whine endlessly about how trans people expect to be referred to by their preferred name and pronoun.

Regardless of your position on Israel, if you can’t identify the difference between Israel officially stating itself as a Jewish state and “Iceland is mostly one ethnicity” you’re an idiot. Especially since a fifth of Iceland’s population is of a different ethnicity.

I’m still incandescently pissed that the “history of the entire world” dude referred to both the Japanese massacre of Nanking and the US occupation of Japan with “and they did some rapes”.

Is there a credulity test one has to take to work at the Times? Some deep psychological screening that proves you’re the kind of person capable of believing it’s clear someone posted a screenshot of child pornography he watermarked was “for the lulz”? Or is it just a coincidence you’re such rubes?

Because when I think of traveling to visit a historic city I definitely think “dead-eyed homunculus gives us a tour of the uncanny valley” rather than “a human who lives there takes us to cool places”

Is there a way for Ukraine to defend itself against this unprovoked war of imperial conquest without killing the soldiers who are carrying it out? Should Poland in 1939 have avoiding using every tool at its disposal to stop the Nazi army because a third of it was conscripts?

That claim isn’t even true over the last 200 years much less “every single shitty thing in the history of war”.

I’m not even going to make a joke, this is an incredibly stupid thing to write. Copyright infringement to evoke the original for the purpose of ridicule is one of the most well-established forms of fair use. It’s the closest to an inherently transformative use I could think of.

I’m not sure that it takes a particularly gifted or unusual right-winger to call a gay man a slur on live television and threaten him with assault.

If @khanna.house.gov is correct that the Democratic Party has values Elon musk agrees with, I need to find a new party.

It’s wild that 350 years after Descartes proposed it, dudes on the internet have reinvented mind-body dualism as their explanation for why sometimes their body will type transphobic bullshit which does not reflect and thus cannot be used to judge their real mind.
